I mentioned over a year ago that she serves as the Chief Designer for both the WS-19 and WS-21 engines.

If you are referring solely to the performance of the fighter jets, then I agree with your point of view.

However, if we broaden our scope to include export sales, then I do not entirely agree.

China's efforts regarding the export of fighter jets remain extremely arduous and challenging. This will require a great deal of time.
In the short term, foreign sales of the J-35 fighter jet remain unable to compete with the F-35, making it difficult for the two to establish a competitive rivalry.

Its kinetic performance has gotten better than F35. However, like WS-15 WS-19 likely has a service life of 4000 hours. That is still half of F135.

Also, its radar is smaller. (Not a big disadvantage, but nevertheless matters)

There are no published figures on the service life of most Chinese engines, but I agree it would be fair to say they would be a lot less than their western peers, as if they were similar, the Chinese would be publishing those values and shouting about them !

Sometimes it is best not to shout from the rooftops either.

I think this is the Chinese way of let them worry about it, not us.

from the pictures it is difficult to tell but i have seen some chinese members here on this platform who says J35 Radar is equal in size to that of F35? @Deino what is your take on it? as you can compare their radome size well by scaling images of both fighters such that they represent their original dimensions?
 
I am sorry, to ask same question again but after several weeks, while defence dynamics are rapidly changing day by day.
South Asia media telling that China will deliver J-35 jets to Pakistan after 10 years because of Pak-China conflicts on Afghanistan and Iran .

The dimensions of a fighter jet's radome—as well as the diameter of the internal AESA antenna—are classified as top-secret data. No nation discloses the actual figures. We can only derive estimates based on external visual measurements.

Currently, estimates regarding radome specifications—derived from external measurements of fighter aircraft—are roughly as follows:
J-20: 1.10-1.20m
KAAN: 1.00-1.15m
F-22: 0.95-1.05m
J-35: 0.90-1.00m
Su-57: 0.85-0.95m
F-35: 0.80-0.90m
KF-21: 0.75-0.85m
Note that these figures are not precise! However, it is 100% certain that the radome of the J-35 is slightly larger than that of the F-35.

The data on Chinese weapons is absolutely confidential.

China has already widely equipped Gallium Nitride (GaN) radars. Currently, the F-35 uses Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) radars. On February 11, the U.S. website 'The War Zone' admitted that since June 2025, some F-35A fighters received by the U.S. Air Force were not equipped with radars at the time of delivery. This situation stems from a key component in the F-35 Block 4 upgrade program — the AN/APG-85 Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar — which has faced long-term development delays and cost overruns.

The AN/APG-85 Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar is a Gallium Nitride radar. Due to the U.S. initiating a tariff war against China, China has banned the export of rare earths. The U.S. is highly dependent on Chinese rare earths, and in the short term, substitutes are unavailable.
