PESHAWAR/MOHMAND: A Counter-Terrorism Department official was martyred in a targeted attack in the Budhani area of the provincial capital on Sunday, the police said.
According to the police, the incident took place in Pasni, within the jurisdiction of Budhani police station, where unidentified armed motorcyclists opened fire on Humayun.
The attackers fled the scene after shooting the cop.
Following the incident, a heavy contingent of police cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to trace and arrest the suspects.
Meanwhile, six policemen, including a sub-inspector, were injured when terrorists attacked the D-Chowk police post with a hand grenade on Sunday night, a police official said.
The official told
Dawn that the attack took place in the limits of Ambar police station, saying that the cops manning the post responded with heavy fire, forcing the attackers to retreat.
He said that six cops, including sub-inspector Zubair Khan, Khair Jan, Israel, Aitebar Shah, Syed Alam and Irshad, were injured in the attack.
The injured were rushed to a nearby health facility for treatment.
