5 suspected terrorists killed during intelligence-based operation in Attock: CTD​

ATTOCK: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Tuesday said that it had killed five alleged terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in the border area of Mankor, a remote locality in Attock district’s Jand tehsil.

According to a CTD spokesperson, security personnel launched the operation after receiving credible intelligence regarding the presence and activities of terrorists allegedly involved in planning terrorist attacks in Punjab.

As the CTD team moved in, the suspected terrorists reportedly opened fire, triggering an intense exchange of gunfire with law enforcement personnel.

The spokesperson said CTD officers responded effectively, resulting in the killing of all five individuals.

A cache of weapons, explosive material and hand grenades was recovered from the site following the operation. Preliminary investigations suggest that the slain individuals were allegedly linked to plans for carrying out terrorist activities in Punjab, the spokesperson said.

Terrorist killed in joint police, CTD operation in K-P's Bannu​

PESHAWAR: A terrorist was killed during a joint intelligence-based operation by police, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and security forces in Bannu, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) police spokesperson Abdul Salam Khalid said on Monday. The operation was conducted in the Miryan area after intelligence reports indicated the presence of suspected terrorists, he added.

The spokesperson further said district police, CTD teams, the Quick Response Force and security forces took part in the operation in Khani Kalay, Barakzai and surrounding areas within the jurisdiction of Miryan police station.

An exchange of fire took place during the operation, resulting in the death of an unidentified terrorist, whose identity was being established, the spokesperson said.

A Kalashnikov, three magazines and a bandolier were recovered from the killed terrorist, according to the statement. Several suspected individuals were also detained during subsequent search operations in the area and were being questioned.

Bannu District Police Officer (DPO) Captain (retd) Muhammad Furqan Bilal praised the personnel involved in the operation, describing those fighting terrorism as “our real heroes”. He said intelligence-based operations would be intensified across Bannu to eliminate terrorism and crime, adding that they would continue until the threat was eradicated.

CTD official martyred in Peshawar attack​

PESHAWAR/MOHMAND: A Counter-Terrorism Department official was martyred in a targeted attack in the Budhani area of the provincial capital on Sunday, the police said.

According to the police, the incident took place in Pasni, within the jurisdiction of Budhani police station, where unidentified armed motorcyclists opened fire on Humayun.

The attackers fled the scene after shooting the cop.

Following the incident, a heavy contingent of police cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to trace and arrest the suspects.

Meanwhile, six policemen, including a sub-inspector, were injured when terrorists attacked the D-Chowk police post with a hand grenade on Sunday night, a police official said.

The official told Dawn that the attack took place in the limits of Ambar police station, saying that the cops manning the post responded with heavy fire, forcing the attackers to retreat.

He said that six cops, including sub-inspector Zubair Khan, Khair Jan, Israel, Aitebar Shah, Syed Alam and Irshad, were injured in the attack.

The injured were rushed to a nearby health facility for treatment.

Terrorist commander killed in Lakki IBO​

LAKKI MARWAT: A local terrorist commander wanted in seven serious terrorism cases was killed during a joint operation by police and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in the Abdul Khel area of Lakki Marwat, police said on Sunday.

The slain militant was identified as Manzoor, son of Izzat, a resident of Abdul Khel. Police said he was allegedly involved in attacks on civilians and was wanted by the CTD in seven cases registered in connection with serious acts of terrorism.

The operation was launched after terrorists attacked a group of young men travelling in a loader rickshaw after returning from a cricket match near Abdul Khel. The attack left three youths dead and three others injured.

Following the incident, a heavy contingent of police and CTD personnel reached the area on the directives of District Police Officer Lakki Marwat Sajjad Ahmad Sahibzada and cordoned it off. A search and combing operation was subsequently launched under the supervision of the DPO.

The joint operation continued for several hours, during which security personnel exchanged fire with suspected terrorists. During the encounter, Manzoor was killed, police said. His body was taken into custody and shifted for further legal proceedings.

According to police records, the slain terrorist commander was wanted by CTD Bannu in seven serious terrorism cases registered between December 2024 and September 2026. The cases involve charges related to terrorism, attempted murder, attacks on police personnel, damage to property and other serious offences.
