Egypt gets the Meteor, Mica NG and PL-15..And change the rules of the game

Ok now this is getting ridiculous. Post after post the idea of Egypt having meteors has been juggling around between them possessing the missiles and them not having them. Or did they get a certain finite amount and are no longer getting anymore? Which one is it??? A rafale with no meteors is beyond disgraceful and a shame to the international free weapons market. Yes I have a little bit of Gomig-21 in me when it comes to factual and correct info.Egypt deepens its military cooperation with China, amid Israeli concern that Cairo obtained advanced Chinese technologiesView attachment 137807

The escalation of military cooperation between Egypt and China is a growing concern in the Israeli circles, in light of Cairo's shift towards diversifying the sources of arming and documenting its defense partnerships with Beijing. However, experts specializing in Egyptian affairs confirm that these concerns appear exaggerated and are not based on objective foundations, as Egypt, despite strengthening its military capabilities, remains committed to its regional principles and international agreements.
These experts believe that Egypt's possession of an advanced deterrent force does not pose a direct threat to Israel, but rather represents an element of balance and stability in a region characterized by its continuous fluctuations, and at the same time constitutes an impenetrable dam in front of any attempts to impose new strategic facts that violate the rules of regional engagement.
The escalation of this cooperation comes in a sensitive timing for Israel, which seeks to impose a picture of its military superiority, especially after the recent confrontation with Iran and its involvement in operations on multiple fronts. According to Israeli media reports and research centers, the growing military partnership between Egypt and Beijing has raised fears that Cairo may obtain advanced Chinese technologies, especially in the fields of air defense, missile interceptions, ghost planes, and electronic warfare.
The escalating of the Israeli anxiety is also attributed to the official Egyptian silence about the level of military cooperation with China, which leaves Tel Aviv in a state of mystery on the extent of the existing coordination, and the extent of its impact on the strategic superiority that Washington has always been guaranteed in favor of Israel.
But experts in Egyptian affairs confirm that Cairo is still committed to the peace agreement with Israel, and has not been drifting behind what it considers Israeli provocations on the Gaza border. Also, Egypt, which has been seeking for years to diversify the sources of arming, is adopting in its relations with China and Russia a "soft strategy", according to diplomatic sources that spoke to the newspaper "Arab Weekly", and does not aim to provoke the United States or enter into a confrontation with it, but rather to break the dominance of one pole on international decisions gradually.
In Cairo, estimates indicate that Washington's positions on some regional issues are not compatible with the priorities of Egyptian policy, which prompts Egypt to explore alternative strategic options in cooperation with both Beijing and Moscow. Diplomatic sources point out that this approach can be expanded to include other countries in the future, within the framework of what is unofficially described as “Egypt-China-Russia”, an emerging bloc enhanced by different positions of American policies in the region, especially with regard to dealing with the conditions in the Middle East, and the impact of this on regional balance and the role of international institutions.
The Chinese Prime Minister Li Ciang's visit to Cairo recently prepared a strong indication of the trend of relations between the two countries towards more depth on political, economic and military levels. The visit has permeated the signing of a number of agreements in various fields, including debt exchanges, financial cooperation, green development, reducing emissions, e -commerce, standards, and health care.
On the military level, Egypt and China conducted the first joint air maneuvers in their history under the name "Eagles of Civilization 2025", between mid -April and early May, at an unbearable Egyptian military base. The maneuvers witnessed the use of multi -task aircraft, armament systems and advanced equipment, as a possible prelude to armament contracts and wider defense cooperation.
Military analysts note that such exercises are used to test weapons in a realistic environment, and evaluate advanced platforms such as Chinese "Chengdo J-10" fighters and strategic transport aircraft "Y-20", under volatile regional security conditions.
Experts add that the slowdown in military relations between Cairo and Washington recently allowed China to fill this void, taking advantage of its flexibility and transparency, unlike the political conditions that often accompany American arms deals.
In this context, the magazine "Israel Defevins" reported that a secret report submitted to the US Congress warned of the acceleration of the military partnership between Egypt and China, and considered that the US military aid to Egypt, amounting to $ 1.3 billion annually, represents a strategic investment to maintain regional stability and ensure the continuity of the Egyptian-Israeli peace agreement. The report revealed that Cairo is currently being negotiating to buy advanced Chinese fighters.
For its part, a study issued by the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs and Security warned that Egypt's military purchases from China and Russia deepened American and Israeli concerns, and may endanger American military aid, at a time when Beijing strengthens its influence in the Middle East.

In a remarkable shift in the Egyptian armed faith, Cairo began to strengthen its defense partnership with China during the era of President Abdel Fattah El -Sisi, as part of a strategy aimed at reducing dependence on Western suppliers, led by the United States and Europe, who often impose severe restrictions on arms export, including advanced armament systems and guided missiles, which for years have affected the development of Egyptian air capabilities.
On July 6, 2025, reports announced that Egypt started the official operation of the Chinese air defense system, HQ-9B, in a move that represents a qualitative shift away from the dependence of Western equipment. The system, developed by the CPMIEC company of the Chinese Space Science and Industry Group (CASIC), is compared to its performance with the Russian S-400 Triumph system, due to its great duration and its ability to deal with multiple goals in a simultaneous time.
Retired Major General Samir Faraj confirmed, during an official television interview, this development, describing the incorporation of the new system into the Egyptian defense system as a "earthquake in the regional air force." He explained that HQ-9B has comparable capabilities, and even exceeds in some aspects, both the Russian S-400 and the American PAC-3 system.
The Egyptian decision reflects a new strategic path that aims to break Western restrictions on the export of sensitive military technology, especially in light of the increasing threats posed by Cruise missiles and ballistic missiles, and Cairo's endeavor to secure its air field against potential risks.
An advanced HQ-9B system features an advanced radar capable of detecting distances exceeding 300 km, tracking dozens of air targets at the same time, from ghost fighters to medium-range ballistic missiles. Each combat formation of the system also includes a major radar, a mobile leadership center, and up to eight launching launchers (TELS), giving Egypt great flexibility in covering large areas of its atmosphere.
The HQ-9B objection capabilities range from low altitudes (500 meters) to high (30 km), with a clash of 260-300 km depending on the nature of the target, making it one of the most important solutions available to confront developments in the air-to-air and air-surface capabilities in the region.

In a related context, recent reports talk about an increasing Egyptian interest in the acquisition of the advanced fourth generation fighters J-10C, and even the fifth generation ghost fighters J-35A, which may make Egypt the first Arab country to own these aircraft, and establishes a radical transformation in the map of armament sources in the Middle East and North Africa.
This growing cooperation between Egypt and China was evident during the first joint air training between their air force, which was conducted in April 2025 under the name "Eagles of Civilization 2025", and witnessed the participation of J-10C combat aircraft, early warning planes, KJ-500, and Yu-20 fuel aircraft from the Chinese side.
The Chinese Ministry of Defense described the maneuvers as "an opportunity to enhance practical cooperation and consolidate friendship and mutual confidence", while Chinese military expert Wang Yunvai, in an interview with the Global Times, pointed out that the exercise allowed Cairo to evaluate the operational capabilities of modern Chinese aircraft directly, likely to open this door to joint armament deals or even the chances of transferring technology and local production.
This Egyptian trend comes in light of the challenges facing Cairo to obtain advanced Western technologies, despite having an advanced fleet of French F3-R fighters. For example, Egypt is still prohibited from obtaining a long-range "metoleure" air missile, despite its importance in achieving air superiority, due to Israeli reservations and European pressure that prevented it from granting it to Egypt.
The same situation was repeated with the American F-16 aircraft, where the American restrictions-out of the preservation of "qualitative military superiority"-prevented Israel without providing Egypt with long-range AIM-120 AMRA. Thus, Washington dealt with Egypt as a "second -class operator", despite being a major ally of NATO, and annually receives military aid exceeding $ 1.3 billion.
On the other hand, Beijing offers more flexible offers, including advanced systems without political complications, with opportunities for easy financing, local assembly, and technology transport. Cairo has already started operating or studying the purchase of a number of Chinese products such as "Wing Long" armed aircraft, K-8 training planes, and the Y-20 strategic transport plane.
In addition, the Russian war in Ukraine greatly affected Moscow's export ability in the field of weapons, after most of the productive energies were directed to supporting the ongoing combat operations, which made the diversification an inevitable issue in light of the scarcity of reliable options.
On the other hand, the West is still restricted by complex decision chains that include the approval of the US Congress or human rights considerations in Europe, which made Cairo searching for more flexible and reliable partners.
In light of these considerations, observers believe that the operation of the HQ-9B system does not represent just an armament deal, but rather an integrated Egyptian plan to integrate Chinese systems into its air and missile defense system, as part of the policy of multi-trends in a regional environment where threats are increasing, from drones to micro-missiles.
It was impossible that Egypt signs the second contract if there were no Meteor included..maybe in limited numbers now..but that opens the door to buying more if desired or needed.. now even the US has sold the Aim 120 to Egypt..that alone nullifies the pessimism about the Meteor..and they have nothing to gain in this context since they know that Egypt has secured the PL-15 from China..Ok now this is getting ridiculous. Post after post the idea of Egypt having meteors has been juggling around between them possessing the missiles and them not having them. Or did they get a certain finite amount and are no longer getting anymore? Which one is it??? A rafale with no meteors is beyond disgraceful and a shame to the international free weapons market. This appears to be a Y-20 tanker, possibly conducting aerial refueling training with Egyptian fighter jets, as its trajectory shows it has been hovering in a small area for a long time.Recent ? More deliveries of something interesting ?
