Egyptian Military Industries & Products

So what's actually happening, bro? Is Dassault going to set up a ToT assembly line in Egypt? Or is it a maintenance & overhaul depot for the Rafales similar to what the EAF has for the Mirage 2000?

I'm also curious if you have any latest info on where they stand with the T-50? Have they signed the final contract to assemble the aircraft in Egypt yet, or are they still negotiating? I figured if they selected it, that means they already agreed on pretty much all the nitty gritty so that there isn't much left to negotiate.

It would also be nice to see where the UAE stands with its Mirage 2000-09s and the offer it made to Egypt and Morrocco for the 50 jets it wants to sell. What a terrific addition that would be to the EAF's fleet of measly 15 2Ks. It would beef that model up bigtime. Even India is interested in the Greek 2000-05s which I'm surprised there was no interest from the EAF considering our close relations and continuous exercising with them and those specific jets.
The news talk about Egypt having already started making some Dassault civilian airplane parts.. next step is the establishment of an aerospace design school to train Engineers and technicians on both civilian and military aircraft design, maintenance and manufacturing..the last step is to make spare parts and many other parts of the Rafale in Egypt..and to assemble the aircraft itself..With a percentage of localization.. it might start at 30% or a bit more and go up in time..Just like they did with the Abrams where the localization ended up at 98%..

Well the decision about the T-50 was final..now they need to establish the production line.. it needs a lot of modern machinery, new manufacturing techniques to be learned...etc

We haven't heard anything new about the Mirage-2k 9..I still guess they will split them on Egypt and Morocco..

I got the part about the school and engineering, it just seems the part about an actual assembly line for the Rafale is almost as ambitious as the aircraft carrier, not to ridicule that or this. The ultimate goal seems a bit foggy as to the intentions of such an endeavor. Will it be for the EAF itself like a joint venture? Or is it for establishing a "dealership" so to speak where Egyptian-built Rafales will supply other countries? It's interesting nonetheless.

Yes it is the second point you've mentioned.. plus obviously some ToT..
Did you see the video? he says quoting an EAF general.. explicitly..that they will start with spare parts and parts of the Rafale and eventually manufacture it in Egypt..

The video is in Arabic ..but you can click CC then Settings,,auto translate and chose English..

Yeah I just wasn't sure if their intentions for an assembly line in Egypt is for the purpose of increasing the numbers in the EAF only or if the goal was to export through a JV also. He didn't mention anything of the latter, but I was just curious. Either way sounds good.
Oh and I don't need to CC, bro. :)

I believe there will be export too..mostly spare parts to the region..UAE and even KSA if it decides to buy Rafale..

It's unreal the progress that the local military industry is experiencing. That protection system could be huge. Similar to an APS but seems like it's much more versatile.

The “AHMOUS” plane was developed with Egyptian expertise, and is equipped with the ability to perform reconnaissance, surveillance, and attack missions. The dimensions of the aircraft are 8.5 meters in length and 2.5 meters in height, and it is equipped with a 145 horsepower engine. The plane can reach a maximum altitude of 22,000 feet and stay in the air for up to 30 hours.

“AHMOUS” has a maximum speed of 250 km/h and a landing speed of 120 km/h, and it can fly a distance of more than 240 km, which can be increased through satellite communication.

The “AHMOUS” aircraft contains seven suspension points for loading various equipment, including reconnaissance and armament systems, in addition to additional fuel tanks, enabling it to carry out a wide range of missions from combat operations to reconnaissance, surveillance, and information gathering, in addition to the possibility of equipping it with electro-optical and thermal monitoring systems. Synthetic aperture radar.
