The new U.K. government had pledged to recognize an independent Palestinian state, the country's envoy in London Husam Zomlot has said.

In an interview with Euronews Turkish on Friday, Zomlot revealed ongoing discussions with the British Foreign Office and reiterated the urgency of this recognition.

He criticized the government for delaying the recognition and said: "They are saying it’s a matter of timing. We are telling them the time is now. Otherwise, they are not serious about the two-state solution and recognition promises."

Zomlot, however, expressed satisfaction with the new U.K. government's position compared to the previous Conservative administration.

He particularly welcomed the decision to retract the former government's interference with the International Criminal Court (ICC), which had previously shielded Israel from accountability.

He noted that Spain, Norway, Ireland, Slovenia and Armenia have recently recognized Palestine as a state and urged the U.K. to do the same without conditions.

Zomlot criticized the U.K. for missing several opportunities to recognize Palestine, citing key moments such as 1988, 1999, 2012 and the centenary of the Balfour Declaration.

Regarding the future of Gaza, Zomlot stressed that a unified Palestinian government of non-political professionals and technocrats is the only viable solution to address the needs of the people in Gaza, the West Bank and Jerusalem.

He rejected alternatives and emphasized the necessity of such a government for effective management.

Cease-fire role

Zomlot also discussed the U.K.’s potential role in the ongoing conflict between Hamas and Israel. He called for the U.K. to play a significant role in restraining Israeli actions and facilitating a cease-fire.

He criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for obstructing cease-fire agreements proposed by the United States and the U.N. Security Council.

He acknowledged the challenges in cease-fire negotiations due to Netanyahu’s changing positions and stressed the need for international pressure and legal frameworks to achieve a lasting resolution.

Furthermore, Zomlot highlighted the European Union’s critical role in ending the Gaza conflict, urging that EU policies align with International Court of Justice rulings and advocating for a coordinated response.

He welcomed discussions on sanctions but insisted they should address broader illegal activities beyond individual extremists.

Israel currently:

Airports shut down- check
Port (Haifa) shut down- check
Northern border military radar and installations shut down - check
National Integrated Air Defense System broken down - check
National ammunition stockpiles depleted - check
National economy broken down - check
National tax revenue broken down- check
Small and Medium biz shut down en masse - check

Remember the Palestinian willpower and probably 20-40% of the resistance's forces did all this to Israel.

Then some on here will go on to still say "What can Saudis or Egyptians do- they can't do anything"- with their 100s of top of the line Western equipment and large # of forces, they can actually and factually do a lot against Israel, if only they had 1% of the required willpower to do so.

The issue is Israeli government don't care, remember Hannibal directive, infact they are happy if they are dead, there is no leverage by Hamas.

6 POWs executed and there was a mass strike in Occupied Palestine.

It does not matter whether the settler leadership cares but how much pressure they can be brought under.

Hamas has nothing to lose and everything to gain by dispatching the POWs if they are about to be rescued.

Let us wait and see the pressure building up in the settler communities as more of their POWs are dispatched.

I would take a honest enemy over a dishonest friend/ally, Democrat and its leaders are the dishonest Ally/Friend of Palestinian or Muslims in General but republicans are the honest enemy, they put it out there what they want to and plan to do, let their ugly faces be out in public, and maybe just maybe that will wake up Arab/Muslim Leaders to realize that they are only buying their times for as long as serve them.,

Neither the Democrats nor the Republicans are fooling any Arab or Muslims. However, at least the Democratic 'base' as some pressure points, some inputs which is virtually lacking in the Republican 'base' and on the contrary, the Republican base is extremely pro Israel.
The debate about 'honest enemy' vs 'dishonest friend' is merely academic in nature. Votes do count, as the 'dishonest friend' in the UK which was brought to power via the Labor Party. How did it help Israel? However little influence the bringing to power of Labor brought, that influence is still better than no influence.

The pro Palestinian alliance should use whatever help they can get. The idea is to keep Israel imbalanced: Threats of rockets from multiple directions, killing IDF in Gaza and West Bank and northern Israel, eroding the investor confidence in Israel, sowing dissent in Israel around the hostages issue, street protests in important countries, having the even minor arms embargo such as by the UK just now, following the ICJ/ICC processes.
What other options the resistance has??? Breast beating, wailing like women won't do and neither would negative posts. The important Arab capitals are not going to help. So Use whatever is available, however small it may be.

If the Gazan resistance can last for some years, they are going to prevail.

Doubt it , The Jews with their Western backers have had 75 years of gencodie practice, unless the Muslims rise up to the challenge the Israeli empire will expand in the region.

The odds are heavily stacked against Palestinians. However, I don't think it is a hopeless situation.
I believe Americans want to be out of the Middle East's quagmires and concentrate on China and Russia. The Abrahamic Accords were more than protecting Israel: They were also about new trade connectivity, such as the India-Middle East-Europe Corridor as well as reducing the American headaches in the Middle East. Americans know it is advantage China/Russia to be bogged down in the Middle East. Americans would want to not be bothered with the Middle East but their master Israel is controlling the American political class, to the detriment of American interests.
And a day may come when the American political class could make the decision, on a bipartisan level, to make Israel offer concessions. If both political parties decide that--which at this point seems impossible--then AIPAC can blackmail all it wants to.

And Muslims fail to heed the warnings given to us via hadith and prepare for the worst. Do you see why the Muslims are getting punished as hard as they are?

Another hadith states that the Romans will have the majority of the population; that begs the question, what happens to everyone else?
Here we go another defeatist mentality

I dont see Muslim getting punish. What I see is Arab fighting to each other and Muslim figthing to each other that weaken Muslim world.

Even Hamas is selfish and pull out from PLO and do their stupid strategist that is the disaster for Palestinian. Hamas is the one that is loved by Israel hard line and this stupid organization do their worst operation under hard line period of Netanyahu that want to expand Israel territory

Seems like Russia and China are planning something big.

See on my own country history. Why we can wipe out Communist ? Because Soeharto is using Communist stupid action who killed many of Indonesian Army generals in 9 September operation. Stupid for them, but for Communist enemy it is the chance to wipe out Communist completely

The event is used by Soeharto (and anti communist in Army that still has the most powerful in term of military power) and Islamist power in Indonesia to eliminate our communist power completely

Actually Communist want to save Soekarno since Indonesian Generals who are being killed wanted to do coup to Soekarno

So 9 September 1966 in Indonesia is similar with 9 Oct 2023 Hamas operation. Both are dramatic event that are used by their opponent. Both events cause many people being killed.

The Arab rulers think like capitalists while their people think like Muslims.
