H-1B visas must end’: Wife of US citizen shares plight of landing IT jobs

It is a strange servitude if you are fighting for it and doing everything you can to achieve it.
You have to put it in a perspective. If an alternative isn't better, then why not? You cannot expect you are living in a paradise, can you?

Says the Indian wanting to keep h1bs going.

And, so,...what? 133 pages of debate over what? Should I give 2 cents if someone in America is crying over "H1B scam"? As I see it, they have all the powers but all they do is cry. So yeah, I will see 1000 more pages of this and their tears. Are you looking for sympathy from us? What do think Indians should say?

Exactly, so it's not servitude, it's a great opportunity, a great relative opportunity to the next best option.

But you do give quite a bit more than two cents, with the above statement.

And as for why a discussion topic on a forum is being discussed, that's a bit too deep, I'm not currently prepared to tackle such an existential quandary

@r3alist bro

It would actually be better for Americans and American graduates to be employed and spending their dollars, as well as purchasing homes and starting families

Yes, of course. They will be if they are skilled enough and value for money employees for their prospective employers.

This entire debate centers around one thing, India is milking it and "others" are unable to. Are we here to debate "welfare" of America or this thread exists purely due to angst over India? Why do we have to debate over "nuance"? It's none of our business.

@Thinking

Why do we have to debate over "nuance"?

Of course, you don't have to be a part of this debate.

Others among us want to be a part of this debate. If this debate has gone to over 100 pages as you wisely observed, it is of some interest to many of us.

Regards

Wow..you must be retired. Anywho..good night.

They are not mutually exclusive. Many servants became servants because alternatives were no better. Yet, having poor alternatives doesn't mean what is left is a GREAT opportunity. It could be just an unfortunate but tolerable opportunity.

The implication that an Indian education system is superior to the American one is not something I think you would say publicly or believe

Also the idea that Americans are just lazy, including the graduates who have spent a lot of money for their education but somehow suddenly unwilling to work is going too far

@r3alist bro

Not at all. You missed the key phrase- value for money employees for their prospective employers.

American system will produce more productive graduates than IND's- but when you adjust their money wage, the balance swings the other way.

Refer to the post above. As I had pointed out:

#One of the responses of the corporates to restrictions on immigrations would be offshoring.
#It would be better for America to have H1Bs paying taxes and spending in American economy is better for them than for them to be staying back in IND (and elsewhere) and spending their dollars there.

@SoulSpokesman Sir,
2: All the illegals (way far more than the number of H1B workers) are also contributing to the U.S. economy, so that’s not a valid point as far as I understand.

Just yesterday, a young Indian kid who completed her master’s in May 2025 was complaining that she’s still looking for a job and hasn’t found one yet. Eventually, this H1B cartel is going to hurt everyone, including their own community.

As for your point 1, if these U.S. corporate babus can fire their own people (U.S. citizens, green card holders, and other legal workers) just to save some pennies, do you really think that when the time comes they won’t ditch the H1B workers?

You can see that now H1B and H4 holders are also going through the security/SM vetting, and their stay in India is becoming longer than usual. Plus, work permits are no longer valid for 5 years they’ve reduced them to a maximum of 18 months.

@Meengla @r3alist

@ihussain

do you really think that when the time comes they won’t ditch the H1B workers?

Sure, they will. But they will need to find employees for their businesses, won't they? Where will they find them?
