No, 4th gen were offered. F-35 was never offered or sent to India or even evaluated by Indian pilots. It was a no go.
Lockheed has never even mentioned India as a serious prospect.

No, not at all, but we have a flow of JF-17s, J-10Cs and in the future J-35s that we can count in, on average PAF has been gaining new fighters at the rate of 1 Sqd a year.
We may be awaiting new J-10Cs or hop directly to the J-35, that is murkey right now and JF-17 production is dedicated to Azerbaijan.

However, let me put it in very clear terms, IAF has not received a single new fighter in almost 4 years. Not a single one.

Tejas not coming through yet, and Rafale deliveries have stopped. There is nothing in the pipeline other then hoping Tejas comes good and MRFCA is signed.

Tejas is finally gaining some momentum of late — with 11 units in the final stage of delivery. With GE committing to supply 2 engines per month and the Nasik line getting activated, HAL is expected to scale up to 24 units per year by 2026 (though, given HAL’s track record, there are still plenty of “ifs”).


On top of that, don’t be surprised if India announces 2–3 squadrons of Su-57s and a few additional Rafale follow-up orders through G2G deals. India’s real issue is not a lack of resources but decision paralysis. With a likely conflict ahead, some prioritized G2G transactions may very well be on the cards.

as per the world bank figures, between 2000 to 2025, FDI inflows from US to India was $70.6 billion, making USA the 10th largest FDI source into India .. hence again my question.. where did you get the data for rest of $3.43 trillion ?

Sorry, but any statement by anyone on Tejas is of no value right now, I would have thought you would be aware of the mess here, but if you need to maintain optimism, fine by me. Not a single MK1A delivered so far in 2025.

Agreed, Rafale and SU-57 are Indias only real options. Either way, feeds into Russian and French R&D.

Also, any new deal will take at least 3 years for aircraft delivery (with SU-57 probably much longer). By then as planes trickle in, IAF will be facing mass obsolsence. I really do mean mass.
