Indian government has finally learned some valuable lessons. sanctioned $8 billion for the next-generation engine being developed for the AMCA. โน735 crore sanctioned for the Kaveri dry engine alone compare that to the original budget of just โน2,035 crore for the entire Kaveri engine programme.I am not concerned what media does and says.
What freaks me out is the stepmotherly status what Babus, Military Despensation and MOD and Government as a whole has towards investment in R&D in deep tech.
I also freak out at our Dhandos who larp for profits instead, of doing doing research they falls for shortcuts and imports final matured products and do screwdrivergiri and sell it in the country.

we cannot blame Indian Government entirely because Kaveri engine programme began in 1980, when India was a much poorer country with limited technological and financial resources.
Mass production of the Ghatak UCAV is expected to begin in 2032, but prototypes could be flying with this engine as early as 2027. it would marks a significant shift in Indian military aviation: for the first time, the engine is ready and certified before the aircraft enters flight testing. When can we expect intergration, certification and lastly mass production?
Let me give you a small example. In what context ??????
Sorry to say it is not.
Why running after Javelin???
Why no substantial orders for ATGAS, Tata WhAPs, Kalyani MArGs, Arjun.
Why GSQR changed for Zorawar right after it was ready to be rolled out.
The list is freeking long.
Let me give you a small example.
Trade fairs for used equipment are held annually in mainland China. Originally, these were domestic marketplaces, but in recent years, a large number of Indian merchants have flocked to them. They purchase used industrial equipment or production lines directly and ship them back to India, where they are rebranded as achievements of India's own industrial sector. These merchants can even secure substantial government incentives from the Indian authorities.
To cater to these international clients, many vendors at these Chinese trade fairs have begun using English exclusively for their promotional materials.
Meanwhile, leveraging its status as a global city, Hong Kong has also expanded the scale of its own used equipment trade exposโwith India serving as the primary target market.
Of course, the target audience for China's used equipment market extends beyond India to include Africa, but India accounts for the lion's share of the business.
You will rarely see news of this kind in Indian or other international media.

Here is a small example from the realm of defense and the military.
An Indian company announced the development of a high-speed interceptor drone designed to take down FPV drones, claiming a top speed exceeding 470 km/h (I don't recall the exact figureโyou can check the relevant news reportsโbut the maximum speed was under 500 km/h).
This news generated excitement among many Indians, who touted it as a world-leading achievement...
However, what they didn't realize was that the photos released by the Indian company showed a drone identical to an export model from a private Chinese company...
This thread is about Kaveri engine. I also recently learned that the Kaveri dry engine was sent to Russia for in-flight testing in 2023, but testing slots were not available, so the engine had to wait for nearly three years before it could be tested. Without this delay, the engine might have been certified as early as 2023.Sorry to say it is not.

So, are you claiming that the Kaveri is actually a Chinese engine and that India simply rebranded it as its own?Let me give you a small example.

AMCA no consortium is ready to put its hard cash because there will be drama of L1 & L2 after prototyping.
As the manufacturing will be open for all after proof of prototyping.
The Manufacturer of Prototypes after investing in Machinery and R&D will have to compete for other vendors on costs.
Who the fool in the world will invest in product development??
You are not getting to the bottom of the problem. This thread is about Kaveri engine. This highlights why India needs its own flying testbed. I also listened to a retired HAL scientist who made the same point: according to him, the Kaveri programme has taken so long also because India lacks adequate in-flight engine-testing infrastructure. Sending engines to Russia for testing consumes significant time and resources.
