IDXChannel – PT Modern Internasional Tbk (MDRN) has secured a project for the development and implementation of the Advanced Smart Factory CNC System from PT Dirgantara Indonesia (Persero) (PTDI).

The project also involves Genertec and focuses on the development and implementation of the Advanced Smart Factory CNC System to support the transformation of PTDI’s aerospace manufacturing toward the Industry 4.0 concept.

Corporate Secretary of Modern Internasional, Martino, explained that this collaboration emphasizes strengthening Computer Numerical Control (CNC)-based manufacturing systems integrated with smart factory technology.

“This initiative is expected to enhance production precision, operational efficiency, and digital integration at PTDI’s manufacturing facilities,” Martino said in a public disclosure on Wednesday (February 18, 2026).

Martino further explained that Genertec will provide advanced CNC technology and smart manufacturing solutions, including automation systems, real-time production analytics, predictive maintenance, and digital integration through the digital twin concept.

Meanwhile, PTDI will act as both the user and the primary developer of the smart factory CNC manufacturing system at its production facilities.

MDRN will serve as the implementation partner and after-sales service provider, covering system implementation, solution optimization and integration, human resource training, as well as long-term technical support.

However, the transaction value, commercial scheme, and further implementation stages will still be determined based on project requirements and the agreement of the parties involved.

“This collaboration is projected to deliver positive impacts in the medium and long term, particularly in strengthening MDRN’s business portfolio in the high-technology manufacturing sector and enhancing the company’s role as a provider of industrial solutions and strategic after-sales services,” Martino stated.

For your information, MDRN recorded negative equity of Rp279.5 billion as of September 30, 2025. One option to improve the company’s equity position is to convert debt with creditors into equity.

The plan depends on the creditors’ willingness to approve the debt-to-equity conversion scheme.

In addition to the debt conversion, MDRN is also continuing the process of selling fixed assets to reduce its debt burden while simultaneously lowering the equity deficit that still weighs on the company’s balance sheet.

On the operational side, the company is also pushing for improvements in business performance. Its subsidiary has recorded revenue of approximately Rp32 billion, while the parent company, Modern Internasional (MI), reported revenue of around Rp1.5 billion as of the end of 2025.

Falcon Star eMLU Program is completed. Falcon Star eMLU program is the upgrade and refurbishement of Indonesian F16 fighters that is done entirely in Indonesia. The program is conducted by both Air Force and Indonesian Aerospace techniciants with only assisted by 2 Lockheed Martin engineers.

Similar program happened in Taiwan and Singapore. But for Singapore, it cannot be done locally, they send all the aircraft to USA for the upgrade program (Lockheed Martin).

PT PAL Indonesia launched 141 meters Red and White Frigate in 2025

Jakarta — The consolidation of state-owned shipbuilding companies (BUMN shipyards) is set to be accelerated and is expected to be completed this year. The plan is for PT PAL Indonesia to become the holding company once the consolidation is finalized.

This was confirmed directly by COO of BPI Danantara, Dony Oskaria, who stated that the consolidation could be completed within the first half of the year.

“I can confirm that the consolidation will be completed this year, and possibly within the first semester for our shipyard consolidation,” Dony said at the Presidential Palace Complex in Central Jakarta, Thursday (February 12, 2026).

Focus on Maritime Industry Development

With the consolidation of state-owned shipyards, the government plans to increase the production of fishing vessels.

This is aimed at maximizing Indonesia’s marine resource potential, which is currently still largely utilized by foreign parties.

“There will be many fishing vessels that we will develop, so that our marine wealth, which is currently largely controlled by foreign parties, can be better utilized,” Dony explained.
“By optimizing and upgrading our national capabilities in managing marine resources, there will be significant economic benefits in the future,” he added.

Job Creation Impact

The consolidation is also expected to create significant employment opportunities, particularly for graduates in naval engineering.

“This will open many new job opportunities for our people, especially fresh graduates in naval engineering and related fields,” Dony emphasized.

Formation of a Shipbuilding Holding

Danantara will consolidate several state-owned enterprises in the shipbuilding sector, with PT PAL Indonesia acting as the holding company.

The companies involved include:

  • PT Industri Kapal Indonesia (IKI)
  • PT Dok dan Perkapalan Kodja Bahari (DKB)
  • PT Dok dan Perkapalan Surabaya (DKS)
  • PT Dok dan Perkapalan Air Kantung

PT PAL secures contract for KSOT autonomous submarine

By Ridzwan Rahmat | 11 June 2026

A newly released illustration photo from PT PAL Indonesia shows an Kapal Selam OTonom (KSOT) launching two Piranha torpedoes simultaneously.

Indonesia's PT PAL has secured a contract from the Indonesian Ministry of Defence (MoD) for an undisclosed number of Kapal Selam Otonom (KSOT) autonomous submarines, the company's CEO Kaharuddin Djenod told Janes.

Djenod disclosed the contract during a recent interview at the company's premises in Surabaya. His comments mark the first confirmation that the KSOT has moved beyond prototype and demonstration phases to evaluation procurement.

Details remain limited, but Djenod said the contracted variant will be significantly larger than the prototype demonstrated in October 2025 and will carry eight lightweight torpedoes.

Additional details about the contract and the submarine to be supplied will be revealed in October 2026 in line with events marking the 81st anniversary of the Indonesian Armed Forces, Djenod said.

Indonesia's KSOT programme was unveiled by PT PAL at Indo Defence 2022 as part of efforts to develop an indigenous underwater warfare capability.

Early concepts centred on an artificial intelligence-enabled platform designed to conduct missions including surveillance, reconnaissance, and strike, while reducing risk to personnel.

The system has since been framed as an underwater-based asymmetric warfare capability, enabling the Indonesian Navy to engage larger adversaries with a lower-cost platform capable of deploying torpedoes at stand-off distances.

A KSOT variant measuring about 15 m in length, with a displacement of roughly 37 tonnes, has been used in recent trials, including a torpedo firing carried out at Indonesian Navy facilities in Surabaya in October 2025.

That demonstration involved the launch of a lightweight torpedo from what appeared to be an externally mounted tube.

Djenod said PT PAL is also anticipating separate contracts for its domestically developed Piranha lightweight torpedo.
