The parties will work to remove naval mines from the central passage of the strait within 30 days. After clearing the central passage, it will be used for incoming and outgoing traffic under the terms of a permanent agreement to be negotiated between the Sultanate of Oman and Iran.

The central passage was what has been used for decades BEFORE the war. So it seems like Iran is agreeing to another stupid deal that will end up giving the enemy everything it wants and Iran getting token gestures in return.

60 days no tolls/fees and Iran has the northern lane used for ships coming inbound into SoH, but once median lane is clear of mines then ships will use that for both inbound and outbound. This also agrees nothing is set in stone till another future joke of agreement between Iran and Oman (USA).

Persian Gulf has become black sea!
The status quo changes when this is concluded. This is a win regardless... Iran cannot allow the status quo ante to return nor allow foreign warships in these waters. It secures the lanes and provides breathing space where none existed.

Read Immortals post above and tell me how it's a win for us.

@Immortals and we lost brave and good men to A-10 and Apache's laying those mines!

I second you in maintaining the mines... it is all about control at the end of the day... that gets relinquished when Iran will volunteer others to come and remove mines or scale back it's presence. US presence will remain hostile to Iran regardless of any mechanism worked with Oman.

This second round of hostilities wouldn't have even happened had Iran not put it's foot down to stop a parallel US mechanism of operating the straits. Which has been achieved in writing ...
Don't let the apparatus claw it's way back retroactively.

It’s not a win. Because realistically Iran cannot keep “closing” what is basically a leaky SoH. It’s almost like a drug smuggling border. Everything is still getting thru and every once in a while one drug mule gets caught. That doesn’t change the 50 or so that go thru the days before.

Honestly this is worse deal than the MoU version. It’s saying for 2 months Iran gets no tolls or revenue. Then after all ships use the same lane they have been using for decades

Then in 2 months Iran has to go back to America and negotiate a permanent agreement on the SoH. Which after 2 months SoH traffic will have normalized and Iran won’t be able to close the SoH that easily and the reformists and pragmatists will cry to Mojtaba that it’s too risky to close the SoH.

Also keep in mind Trump will wait till after midterms then say if Iran tries to close the SoH or charge tolls he will bomb them again. Iran will have little leverage. In 3-4 months, US will produce ~400-500 PAC-3’s and reload their defenses ready for another pathetic skirmish by Iran.

It barely put its foot down. How many ships transited the strait and did STS transfers in Arabian Sea? How many ships did Iran even hit during the month of July? 10? 8? How many got thru? 100? 200?

Iran has already lost the Hormuz battle and is asking for a face saving mechanism way to say it retains “control”. When in reality the world will play nice for 2 months and use the “Iranian” lane then everything goes back to how it was. Even the “fee” is supposedly voluntary, basically a beggar fee.

Trump will comeback and harass Iran once mid terms are over.

Stupid deal by Iran. But the country is run by idiots to begin with. They advised Hamas in negotiations. they advised Hezbollah in negotiations. They advised Assad in negotiations. And remind me how are they all doing?

These Iranians can’t negotiate. They just waste time and call that being tough.

Ask around, does anyone agree with this statement of yours?
Do US or Oman agree?
Why is US even bothering with this? The midterms are near and getting a patch on is better than an open sore.

I don't think it is decided yet... when first 60 days are gratis. Second, control over who gets to go in is more important... since the same are expected to return.

True... likely between December and February.

There is time to consolidate and mobilize. There are places where Iran has no say... such as Gaza... grace a la GCC... however, Lebanon, Syria and Iraq are heading for a longer period of instability. Zion saw itself in the mirror and didn't find itself greater than any other terror outfit in the region... with the largest sugar daddy in the world.

I think they've done a good job on the fly... since the goal of the orange clown was to keep shifting the goal post without telling the real reason he attacked Iran.
