he didn't need f-14 and f-16 and f-18 or kidd class ships to do thatThe Shah was a dictator who needed weapons to protect his family and wealth.
For this, he served the West and America. His relations with Pakistan were also due to the fact that Pakistan and Iran were both in the Western group and were in front of the Soviet Union.
A complete puppet.
He needed to satisfy yanks and remain in powerhe didn't need f-14 and f-16 and f-18 or kidd class ships to do that
just sell oil on discount , let say severely discounted price and the foreign master would be satisfied . they don't even have to support you they cant always backstab you and you do nothing that also make them happyHe needed to satisfy yanks and remain in power
In other words be a good milking cow
A complete puppet.
What a funny comment.Puppet who armed Iran to teeth to the point that IRI could take on entire USSR+EU fueled Arab league and still came out victorious?
Being an Azeri Turk, I have no exceptional love for Shah but Pahlavis were patriots. He would have taken Iran to Great Power status by 1990s. IRI is like Qajar empire. Started tough, kept Iran intact but becoming more and more irrationally stupid as time passes by.
There was a clash between Iraq and Iran when Shah was in power? This is news to me. I don't think that Iraqi forces were equipped to handle Iranian military of the 1970s. If there was indeed a clash in the 1970s then it might not have went well for him. Lol.actually saddam did , but it didn't went well for him
What a funny comment. The purchase of some war equipment would not have made the Iranian army to be on the same level as the powerful armies of the world. The entire naval fleet of the Shah's army could resist the American attack for only a few hours. The tanks bought from England were nonsense and... it is like considering the current Saudi army as powerful. The current Arabia and Iran during the time of the Shah have many similarities. They are both economic and military dependents and servants of the West.
the navy was being upgraded when iran cancelled some order have you forget that partWhat a funny comment.

Thanks for the share, bro. This information confirms my position that Shah created a very capable Iranian military force.1974–1975 Shatt al-Arab conflict - Wikipedia

Putting the Shah aside, you guys underestimate what an advantage tech gives you. How do you think "Israel" pushed Hezbollah back with a conscript army? It was the air force and drone tech advantage that was decisive. Ansarallah beat UAE's mercs and Saudi ground troops but never had a response to Saudi jets and now Yemen is still not unified under them. And as we see in Ukraine drones are a game changer. The best trained well motivated fighter can't beat a drone or plane dropping a bomb on his head. Iran's navy wasn't advanced even for its time and most of it's ground and air force was on its way to being replaced. F-16s, Shir 1, and new destroyers never arrived. If they had, Iraq would have been demolished year 1.What a funny comment.

I think modern day saltanat talabs are pathetic, but Reza Khan and Mohammad Reza Pahlavi- Iran would not exist without those two. God bless their souls. You mean "Some war equipment" like F-14As that downed 159 Baathist jets while losing 3? or F-4E/Ds that bombed Iraqi fields, nuclear plant, even Saddams palace? You do understand what would have been done to Iranian cities and population had their been no massive Shahi built IRIAF fleet defending Iranian skies and neutralizing strategic threats in enemy territory. Tanks play almost no role in Iranian doctrine even today, Iran is one of the most mountainous countries on planet earth.
What you are doing in blind love for Mullahs is that you are seeing Iranian military doctrine some 50 years ago through the lens of presentism. Imperial Iran had no quarrel with PGCC still Shah was going for best available Kidd class and Tang Submarines. My own understanding is that Iran would have become a nuclear armed/sharing country under Shah in mid-late 80s due to USSR invasion of Afghanistan and Baathists showing nuclear ambitions of their own. Like I said before, he was no angel, Pahlavis were persian chauvinists, but were Iranian patriots esp Reza Khan Mir Panji.
IRI is a threat driven asymmetric military relying upon missiles, UCAVs that in recent times is trying to become a conventional or symmetric force through rapid naval expansion, IADS, Aerospace etc, they can do much more but visibly the leadership lacks courage and often gets played in hands of Russia and China.
