As I said earlier many times, this operation is being done only on demands of Israel. US has no threat against Iranian missile program and they don't care about protestors. Those were just the excuses.

Here they clearly saying, real objective of operation is Iran getting its missile production sites bombed. It will be good to see regime gone but that is not the objective of the operation:




So, nuclear weapons and killing protestors are only lame excuses for this operation. Real objective was only one and that is go after that ballistic missile program.

Does Fattah-1(or any other long range ballistic missile that they want to throw at the USN) have terminal guidance to direct itself towards a ship? A missile based solely in CEP is not going to hit much of value. We saw this in the war with Israel, and that was against static targets with known locations at the time.

It would be this missiles I think they showed one not to long ago with EO capabilities the only downside it slows down when coming down but other than that can hit moving targets even if they can’t destroy an aircraft carrier outright you devastate the deck of a carrier what the point of using it

I don't think Fattah-1 can target an aircraft carrier, but aircraft carriers are really slow moving objects with predictable path in a short span of time (3-5 minutes).

You're talking about something that weighs 110,000 tons and its top speed is barely 60 km/h. It would take minutes for such a huge vessel to change course in a meaningful way.

I think anything that barely works can be fatal when it is mass-produced and fired to the level of overmatch. But I don't think that Iran has reached that level yet. Most of us thought we had, but the 12-day war suggested otherwise.

Is that why the regime had to shut down the internet for 3 weeks, and kill 3K people and injure 25K people (per their own official statistics) in just 2 days to suppress the pro-Pahlavi protests? lol Like it or not, Pahlavi is by far the most popular choice. It would be difficult to overmatch a USN carrier group, given that it has jets that can protect it from everything but "ballistic, and hypersonic missiles".

All of the slow moving cruise missiles, etc can be intercepted by jets in the first tier of defence before relying on the cruisers to defend the carrier, and then the CIWS.

If this does turn into a hot war, then we will see how effective this layered defence of a carrier group can be. Alot of military lessons for everyone.

It doesn't really matter what China thinks or what their interests are, they are not a player in this, they don't put any skin in the game... they are but an observer only.

Yeah. and perhaps If I am thinking too negatively China may have a hidden interest in this war to happen. As whenever US engages itself in these wars, China keep progressing quietly. US will use tons of money and weapons in this war. While China will be producing and adding to its arsenal. Secondly, China would be observing very keenly the capabilities employed.

Also, if the war prolongs and if Iran is able to mount a defense then maybe China could find a way to assist Iran via Russia / Caspian Sea. That is only possible if war prolongs. In anyway, China will like a regional country involved in war against US and become a battlefield, instead going to a war with US directly. They won't mind Tehran getting bombed as long as the war is bleeding resources from their arch rival the US.

Not really sure about that. The region seems to have mentally accepted Greater Israel and only the physical manifestation remains. No other explanation seems to fit what we have seen last few years and decades. I do hope everyone enjoys the Pax Judaica.
