there are many Kuwaiti's and Emirati's of Iranian origin. Many are treated as second class citizens based on family name. So i'm not surprised if these jets were targeted intentionally. However, there was a similar incident during the first gulf war when a gaggle of US fighters were targeted by Turkish air defense. Fortunately the presence of wild weasels in the air saved the day and everyone RTB without incident. I'm not ruling out incompetence since the incident could have been avoided by calibrating the Kuwaiti friend or foe systems.

You need to disregard many protocols to shoot down 3 of your friendlies. 1, maybe, 2, well, you are pushing it. 3 means either they care F all about those jet or they are doing this on purpose.

They run on the same C4I structure (at least when I was there in 2003). There would be either a US Air Force colonel in charge of AD or a USAF liaison if the base is small. And you don't generally do that before you launch a missile anyway. I once had a British Tornado drift into our AO in Afghanistan by accident. They shut down the entire grid to make sure everyone is on the same page, so nothing stupid would happen.

I dunno, maybe they are incompetent to this level? Otherwise, they know it was USAF F-15s.

I believe Iran is trying to avoid hurting average civilians in Arab countries as much as possible because they are potential assets. The Israel-Gaza war generated a lot of anger in the Arab world.
It will be very bad for the American bases there if sabotages start: Polluting water supplies and food, hit and run, even shoulder fired projectiles. Not impossible if the war drags on and people see alien people in their midst as the cause of their miseries.
