Iran - Israel/US War: Israel-US declare war on Iran, Iran responds

I don’t think that is the overall impression in military circles but it does provide a “Taiwan” of sorts if the US military gets really entrenched and unless they get into the days of Desert Shield and enforce a no-fly - no movement zone over Souther Iran even good old artillery could potentially reach the Island.

My concern is that how’s being presented to Trump by his inner circle of clowns. Also you can find quotes by Trump during the 1980s about Kharg island during the Iran-Iraq war where he is saying US should capture it to punish Iran for the hostage crisis. The thought of Kharg Island has already been cemented in his brain for decades.

And I think in this administration Pentagon generals don’t have permission to speak freely for fear of their careers.

Kharg island is being sold as a propaganda victory for Trump.

I don't think so. The American politics is very much party-dependent. The Republicans are not going to switch over to the Democrats easily. The Dems are just too weird for most of them. They need stronger reasons for that to happen. Body bags are very convincing though.

Again, you can lose one third of the Senate. So, Trump can be impeached and will be impeached in that case.
There are 53 Republicans in the Senate today. Of those, 22 are up for reelection. Of the 45 Democrats (there are 2 independents who caucus with the Democrats), 13 are up for reelection.

If the President is impeached, it takes 67 Senators to vote for removal. That means the Democrats would need to retain their 13 seats, they would also need to flip 20 Republican seats and hope the two independents vote with them.

don't overestimate them either. Anyways these will make good targets for Iranians
They come with allot of equipment and airpower which would shame some countries. So you might have 10-15k troops holding Kharg but at what cost?

Right now you have 2 carrier battle groups, over 200 planes from US and Israel constantly attacking Iran, there is plenty of firepower but Iran has not stopped fighting back. Any forces on Kharg will be highly vulnerable and become Irans focus of attack. Iran also is likely planning suprise.

So trump replaced the supreme leader with a younger more hawkish version and he did not stop fighting, does he really think taking Kharg will magically open the SOH. If anything more oil off the market = higher prices and Iran hasa higher tolerance for pain than the US.

So I see failure either way.

Best move is to agree a no nuke deal, offer repriations ( he could get gulfies to pay after all they are his personal bank), sign a no aggression pact and agree a phased withdrawal of sanctions based on mutual confidence measures which should be set out do they are easy to achieve.

Hegshits appointment ensured that meritocracy dies in the Pentagon post the woke massacre that Biden brought in - one extreme replaced the other.

In that case, 70K is enough and is a serious threat.
What are they planning? Enter Saudi from the Red Sea and somehow get to Khark, Abu Musa or Qeshm? Or go through Syria-Iraq? That sounds hazardous with PMUs. Their landing ships are useless if they can't cross the strait. Or will they try to land at Chabahar and march on land toward the strait? That sounds extremely dangerous. Maybe a combination of these? None of this makes any sense.

If they go ahead, Saudi/UAE troops will likely do a blind yolo push for Abu Musa and the Tunbs.

Which could make TONS of money providing a land route and pipeline for other GCC states to ship their oil out - maybe MBS sees this angle??
not possible technically, and politically Saudi will prefer their GCC cousins a little poorer.

Do they have to cross the strait though?

I think Kharg and Qeshm are reasonable targets for the Americans. And as you said, the UAE will probably go for the 3 islands simultaneously.

The President is not wrong regarding the far left wing of the Democrat Party.
Wrong or not, it is hilarious to compare Trump with Nixon. Completely different people, almost on the opposite sides of the spectrum.

It hit something but does not seem like it hit the aircraft...
It did release the shrapnel .. there were some sparks over the wing, though the quality is too bad to assess if the wing was damaged.

Though its primary purpose is to damage aircraft via shrapnel .. so hopefully it did the only one job that it had.

This is what French post colonial model is. 14 African countries deposits all their earnings in French Treasury, they can only withdraw 10 or 20% of it for their budget, the rest they have to get from France on interest and loans. Same is going on in Iraq, oil theft.

14 African Countries Who Still Pay Colonial Tax To France

14 African Countries Who Still Pay Colonial Tax To France14 African Countries are Still Forced Nowadays by France to Pay Colonial Tax for the Benefits of Slavery and Colonization
80% of the 10 countries with the lowest literacy rates in the WORLD among adults are in francophone Africa.
Namely: Benin (40%), Burkina Faso (26%), Chad (34%), Côte d’Ivoire (49%), Guinea (29%), Mali (23%), Niger (29%), and Senegal (42%).
This spectacular result is achieved after over 150 years of French colonization!
During the almost 200 years of French colonization in Africa and Asia, France has built only ONE university in their entire colonies.
It was in Indochina.

After 150 years of French colonization of CAR (Central African Republic) there was only ONE person with a PhD degree when the country became independent in 1960.
However, France continues to collect rent on the colonial buildings they have left in these countries, and 14 African countries are still forced nowadays by France to pay colonial tax for the benefits of slavery and colonization.
Imagine the US still paying RENT to the British for the White House for instance, or Russia to collect rent from the vast public housing they have built through eastern Europe during soviet union occupation.
Now take note of this. When Eastern European countries got their independence in the 90s from the Soviet Union Empire, ALL those countries without exception achieved 100% literacy rate, thousands of well trained engineers, doctors, many universities, etc. and lot of housing, transportation and energy infrastructure,…
