NY Times account of the last minute intense negotiations which led to the ceasefire. Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir was indeed working through that night (Pakistan time).
An excerpt.

...

With the Iranians threatening to pull out of talks, frantic diplomatic efforts stretching from the Middle East to China quickly unfolded. Officials worked the phones to salvage a cease-fire plan and pull Iran and the United States from the brink of a bigger catastrophe, according to the three Iranian officials and a Pakistani official familiar with the efforts.

Pakistan’s prime minister and foreign minister worked the phones, speaking to both the Iranian president, Masoud Pezeshkian, and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. Turkey, Egypt and Qatar also reached out to Iran, the officials said. But ultimately it was China, which has close economic ties to Iran, that broke the impasse, according to the Iranians and the Pakistani official.

China maintains close commercial ties to Iran — it is the biggest purchaser of Iranian oil — and also cooperates with the Iranian military. Chinese officials told their Iranian counterparts to agree to the cease-fire now because it might be their only opportunity, the Iranian officials said. China also asked Iran to show more flexibility and open the Strait of Hormuz to maritime navigation for two weeks and consider the economic impact of the war on its allies, including China.

Shortly after 5 p.m., Pakistan’s army chief, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, called Mr. Trump to discuss the contours of the cease-fire agreement. Mr. Munir told the president that the Iranians had agreed to Pakistan’s proposal.

If the Iranians agreed, Mr. Trump told Mr. Munir, then the Americans would.

The president then called Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel to tell him that the United States would enter into a two-week cease-fire.
China asked Iran to open the strait.

Free or paying? Tollbooth or not tollbooth?

Iran said strait won't never back to previous status.

Why they avoid to explicitly say the central issue: Hormuz strait tollbooth.

I think even in the middle of war, Iran would happily allow enemies to cross the strait paying a good enough fee 😂. Like Russia kept sending oil and gas through Ukraine/Europe in the middle of war.

honestly if Israeli try to kill the Iranian diplomats inside Pakistan they’re messing with a country that has over 300 nuclear weapons and I think that is just way too risky even for the Israelis
Well making them secure is now definitely a challenge for us. Since we invited them now it's a big responsibility.

Pakistan can certainly protect our Iranian guests in Pakistan airspace.... keep in mind , from Tehran to Pakistan border it's long and very vulnerable journey ... Pakistan doesn't have the capability to give them protection in their own airspace...that said , Pakistan will make sure , by other means , that Iranians arrive and depart safely and in dignified ways.

That is why mentioned "in our airspace and on our ground". Beyond that we do not have jurisdiction.

Head of states of America , china and Russia always use their own cars and security details..

Russians , occasionally , make some exceptions.

Both cars were theirs. They just avoided the ostensibly designated car.

So, for anyone outside to say that let Iran just remain a victim and docile servant

Nobody is wishing for Iran to remain victim and docile servant, they deserve their sovereignty to be respected like any other, and at the same time they too need to respect others sovereignty as well. To think that "Margh bar Amreeka" and export of revolution to other countries had nothing to do with all this buildup is pure conscious neglect of facts. It is one of the consequences of actions from the past that could have been avoided very easily by removing confusions, and having a transparent agenda for existing territory. But if you wish and try to regain influence in past empire territories, then you also need to be prepared for consequences.

People underestimate the personalities of the US Presidents and how outsized roles the personalities play.

The US political system as a "system" is very dysfunctional with no checks or balances in place and no oversight either. To me, It borders on not being a true democracy.

US congressmen easy to manage by Israel. There is a great divide between US urban and rural. Urban easily manipulates the rural/military establishment in the name of patriotism.

I have not been to Islamabad since 1979, but it does strike me as the cleanest, most well organised city in the whole of South Asia. I have seen alot of westerner videos of people who travel there, looks good and clean (important to my OCD .. ).

( Its on my bucket list to go ... ).

Renowned American journalist Kathy Gannon, while praising Pakistan in her column, has written that

"The art of making deals is neither with the US government nor with the Iranian government. The real art lies with Pakistan."

"Pakistan is in the best position between the warring parties and is not weightless itself — it carries nuclear weight."
