They don't need physical confrontation, they can simply start shipping more and more arms to Iran, more intelligence support, build massive presence near Taiwan, straining U.S.We’ve gifted China a once in a lifetime opportunity to end the Bretton Woods world order, completely renegotiate strategic and economic alliances. Even control over two of the most critical chokepoints. They’d be foolish to pass, but I still can’t see China risking physical confrontation with the US. We’ve even done most of the work on that front too. But I still can’t see it.
I'm sure there is also other things they can do as well to further put pressure on U.S.
I think maybe they could even send their own tankers to collect the oil escorted by ships. Of course I don't think they will get aggressive (takes a while to escalate), but just as a show of force.
