First: The Tang DynastyCan you tell us about those three occasions ? ...it maybe helpful to formulate our future policies.
During the Tang Dynasty, the Jewish community maintained good relations with the government. However, when Huang Chao launched his rebellion, the Jews betrayed the Tang Dynasty. As a result, Huang Chao refused to accept the Jews into his ranks, believing that if they were capable of betraying the Tang Dynasty, they would betray him as well(Although foreigners may find it strange, it is a traditional Chinese value not to accept traitors who repay kindness with treachery, even if they betrayed your enemy). Consequently, the Jews were subjected to a genocidal massacre by Huang Chao.
Second Instance: Song and Yuan Dynasties
The Jews attempted to share power with the Yuan government by manipulating usury and trade. Consequently, they were viewed as a threat by the Yuan emperor Kublai Khan, and the Jewish community was once again subjected to a genocidal massacre.
Third: During the Hongwu Era of the Ming Dynasty
During the reign of Zhu Yuanzhang, the emperor believed that the Jews had betrayed the Han Chinese Song imperial family during the Mongol invasions. This led the Ming government to issue a cruel decree targeting the Jews: within the territories under Ming rule, Jewish men were to be slaves for life, and Jewish women were to be prostitutes for life.
The essence of this history lies in the fact that the Han Chinese have held an absolute dominant position in China, and any attempt to challenge their authority is extremely dangerous. Moreover, even if another ethnic group were to successfully rule over the Han Chinese, the Han would be capable of reclaiming power and exacting brutal revenge. For example, the Mongols once ruled the Han Chinese for 97 years (from 1271 to 1368 AD), and at their peak, the Mongol population reached 40 million. However, when the Mongol Empire fell, only 1.5 million Mongols managed to flee back to the steppes amid the brutal reprisals of the Ming Dynasty.
