When the ceasefire was announced in the first ten days of April and shortly after that Vance went to Islamabad for the Islamabad Talks I knew then who had gained the upper hand. And one day analysts and historians would connect the ceasefire and the Islamabad Talks with the so-called 'rescue mission' which resulted in multiple American jets downed in Isfahan. I believe the mission was a turning point as it showed Iran's air defense systems to be far more capable then given credit for until then.

Iran had gained the upper hand then and you could see that in the pain of even the war mongers like John Bolton for the last several weeks. And I also think that some in the Pentagon top brass are pushing back against further escalation and there may be more Joe Kents resigning if there is another full fledged war.

As far as comparative damage is concerned, then I'd say Iran did far less damage to Israel then vice versa. But for about 40-days the residents of Tel Aviv were forced to hide in bunkers and there was much more damage to the Israeli economy, its tourism potentials, and its destination as a 'startup nation'. Global 'capital' is very 'risk averse'. On top of such factors, which many countries would face if they were in the Israeli boots, Israel has additional imperative/burden of asking people to move to Israel as part of Aaliyah but for the last 2-3 years, it has become a reverse Aaliyah.

As Chas Freeman recently said, if Israel continues on its current path then Israel is doomed. And I greatly respect Chas Freeman views.
