This is what I read today. The missiles/drones will be operating near the performance limits and have to be very accurate.
As long as that drone’s range sounds, Diego Garcia is 2,358 miles from the closest point in Iran; there are American defense experts who doubt the range and capability of Iran’s long-range attack missiles and drones.

My opinion is that Iran is not relying solely on S-136B or K-4 to target Diego Garcia, if Iran prepared for 30 years just to make a 4000km range drone and a IRBM, this would mean this is minimal advances for a 30 year work
There are probably other weapons capable to do that with intermediate destruction and precision, and in big numbers
Iran has been preparing since 1990 for all possibilities, for the moment Iran has struck everywhere it claimed it could target, without exception, now the claims of Mediterranean, EU and US remains to be seen
With all the advances IRGC made in terms of drones and missile, I'm confident Iran can target Diego Garcia, with intermediate precision and destruction

Trump is a business man - he wants negotiations and deals, not war. The problem is these days nobody, even likes of Hamas or Houthis, are not ready to negotiate unless they are bombed to negotiation table.
So if US has to establish it's hegemony, revive it's super power status - it needs to hit and hit hard. That's the only option and that will send even Russia, North Korea and China running to negotiation tables.
