I don't know about these but as i earlier said, i'm listening to Turkish experts, they also had some serious critics about Iran, let me relay these critics to you.

- When the Shah fell, Iran was like 3rd military force in the world. They were superior to everyone else in the region but in quantity and quality. Okay, they had 10 year war and sanctions. But they completely neglected their air force. They had 47 years and absolutely done nothing for their air force. You can not protect skies by relying entirely on your anti-air missiles.

- Iranian intelligence completely failed on counter-intelligence. The expert who said this (Ali Burak Darıcılı - ex-MIT personel). If it was up to me, i would fire everyone in Savama and re-organize, re-structure it. That organization has lots of breaches and it not only at the low levels, some key figures working for Mossad.

We tried acquiring su-35 from Russia. I don’t know what happened to the deal. Iran also heavily focuses on being self reliant, and I think we are too far away from producing anything close to a 5th gen. But I agree we should have a decent Air Force regardless, but it’s difficult when no one is wiling to sell us planes. Maybe China will in the future.

I also agree that counter intelligence failed and needs to be completely restructured, but Iran has been mossads focus for decades.

Possibly, but they could get something else from Russia for the drones and could get Chinese aircraft. It was totally within Iranian capacity to build a fleet of 100-150 J-10C in the last 10 years. They simply sat there and practically grounded their air force.

I heard some people say the Iranians underrated Chinese offerings. But I think they actually tried to buy J10s right? But they didn't have the cash, china rejected their oil barter deal
