How do you know it’s mass deployed? Argument works both ways. Iran’s peace time air defense rings much like Russia, Chinese, Israeli, American are well known. These systems need large engineering structures that can be seen from space.

So far components of systems have been seen which indicate more prototype deployment.

na man those are those iranian made surveillance + telecommunication balloons, we produce them since 2016-2017,

those russian airship deals got cancelled if i remember right, contract was given to a local company.

TEHRAN, Apr. 21 (MNA) – The head of the Iranian Space Research Center Hossein Samimi has reported of projects to equip previously domestically-produced tethered balloons with engines and of efforts under way to build airships in the next phase.

... the previously home-grown tethered communicative balloons are going to be equipped with engines to enhance their capabilities... .

... that the previously domestically-produced captive balloons are fixed on a vehicle and can fly over a certain area and at a certain altitude.

... that work is under way to equip the fixed balloons with engines in order for them to be able to move over the area and change their altitude. Which I interpret as 'untethered' balloons.

Such a network of balloons can be used for a myriad of applications such as radar, communications and even long-range passive sensors. Internet connections? Probably quite lower down the to-do list.

I do not wish to take up too much space, but I thought that I should add something from one of my D/bases.

Further to the above, sensors carried by tethered balloons will still be static or near- static. Such as some or Iran's valuable IADS assets showed during attacks by the IAF.

Another approach that I considered was a powered un-tethered balloon that would be able to vary its position relative to detection, and subsequent incoming.

Also when he was questioned about speed of vehicles that hold these weapons in space he answered speed of vehicles that hold these weapons in space are more than mach 12 and these vehicles are made in such a way that are undetectable for next several decades
