You are thinking of these things as Bombers, but think of them more akin to Strike Fighters like the F-15EX. They have extensive payload capacity and ability to launch munitions from standoff range, especially heavy munitions.

I know the rumors said Su-35s, and that may also be acquired, but I suspect Iran is not going to announce anything either way, no matter what it purchases. Its not outside of the realm of possibility to acquire Su-34s, you can launch air launched ballistic missiles off the Su-34, the Su-34 is the platform Russia uses to launch Air Lauched Kinzhals/Iskanders along with the older Mig-31.

Look at the Camo pattern, those look like Iranian Air Force desert colors, it could be someone else, but Idk of any other air force that is flies that desert pattern that buys Russian.

The Jet is definitely a Su-34, you can tell from the canards and the tail boom in the picture before, the desert camo in the video is whats real interesting.

It's Algerian air force colors, they are for them. Never in a million years will Russia deliver anything useful to Iran.

But there is abundance of missiles for Air to air combat

Hard to imagine no new planes being made inside Iran some where in a factory

• They can make F-5
• They can make Helicopters
• They can make missiles
• They can make boats
• They can make ships
• They can make missiles
• They can make radars
• They can do all the analog dials , digital dials for missiles
• Hey they can even do transport planes for some time now

So why is it impossible to create a Generation 3.5 or even Generation 4.0 plane?
Even if you make a Propeller based plane , you can load up 5 BVR missiles on it


However Iran having good ties with China for some time and also Russia
yet can't increase their air force plane count?

PAF is about to retire 150 Mirage III, V and F7PG , if you need these just reach out to PAF for purchasing. Pretty good platform with Iran's maintenance engineering team I can see them maintaining the Mirage Fleet quite successfully

These 150 would be a response to Israeli Drones used against Pakistan the 50-60 drones which violated Pakistan Airspace, we ain't forgetting about those drones that easily

The planes come with nice Missile Package

• Missiles
• Air to Ground
• Cruise Missiles support

All those lovely Missiles would likely work on the platform

We also have quite a few Mirage Engines to reverse engineer it and soon to be decommissioned Mirage Factory

Heck a suggestion why let a good Mirage or F7PG go to waste

Pair it up with 30 Sukhois and you are have good size fleet problem solved with Airforce

The missing component in your list is the engine. The J85 is a pathetically weak engine that 2 of is needed to power a light fighter like F-5. There was no serious effort to RE the J79, RD33, or F-110 which would have been more reasonable as a basis for a modern fighter. Also no domestic BVR missiles, other than the huge Fakour-90, which is a must for a modern fighter.

Might as well make a SAM at that point. Only modern combat propeller aircraft are COIN aircraft or light attackers. A2A combat is about speed as much as it is powerful radars and long range missiles.
