Iranian Air Force (IRIAF/IRGC-ASF) | News and Discussions

Just curious, when did Iranian Air Force get its last jet? 30 years or 20 years ago?

This year.

Several YAK-130s were delivered.

Also delivery’s in the 90’s and early 2000’s. Then US put pressure on Russia to no longer provide modern jets to Iran. So many deals fell thru to Russia dragging their feet.

We even had a light fighter joint program called Shafaq with Russia, but they pulled out of the program and refused to deliver the engines

This is the type of drones Iran should have developed that advocated for (except smaller size and in greater numbers)

It's not a bomber but a strategic HALE recon drone, 52m wingspan, a bigger RQ-180.

Building an AF is the most time, effort-consuming, and financially consuming venture. To build a quality air force, it takes decades.
eg it took Pakistan more than a decade to expand SSG from a brigade to a division strength. ie if u dont want to compromise on quality.....this i am talking about: special forces. Now, imagine the time it will take to build an AF.

U all need to understand there is no going back from this. isreal/u.s have decided to bring iran down, degrade its military capability and force regime change. Presently, the u.s is hoping that isreal will be able to achieve the goal, but if it fails, u.s will step in under one pretext or another. All this would not be possible without open u.s support

Ive said it before and i will say it again. The only way iran gets some breathing space if it carries out its nuclear test right now. IF not, iran as any sort of military power will be gone in a couple of weeks, and so will the regime.

p.s. the mods on iranian def forum instead of hiding behind banning members/taking away their posting rights, from anyone who shows them the mirror, need to open their eyes and see the writing on the wall

What is the factual situation with Iranian Airforce?
Wt chance does a 3rd gen ac have against 4th gen 4.5 gen and 5th gen ac.
They in all probability are in the same situation as iraq was during the Gulf Wars.
Hearing reports of the remaining irani ac have been sent to Pakistan

I am not talking about the design, I am talking about the concept (high altitude unmanned bomber). We have already talked about the challenges keeping a flying wing stable at supersonic speeds. Flying wing design has little benefits at high altitude even if it could stay stable at Mach 2+
