US CENTCOM: Ansarallah hit two ships in Red Sea

TAMPA, Fla. –
On June 12, Ansarallah struck M/V Tutor, a Liberian flagged, Greek owned and operated bulk cargo carrier, with an uncrewed surface vessel (USV) resulting in severe flooding and damage to the engine room. One civilian mariner remains missing following the attack. The crew abandoned ship and were rescued by USS Philippine Sea (CG 58) and partner forces. M/V Tutor remains in the Red Sea and is slowly taking on water.

Yesterday, Ansarallah struck M/V Verbena, a Palauan flagged, Ukrainian owned, Polish operated bulk cargo carrier, in two separate missile attacks resulting in fires on board. One civilian mariner was medically evacuated due to severe injuries. The crew of M/V Verbena extinguished the fire and have resumed their transit in the Gulf of Aden.

--

M/V Tutor is a large bulk carrier. It is slowly sinking in the Red Sea. Interestingly, it was hit by a USV (drone boat). USVs seem more destructive than ASBMs, ASCMs, and drones combined.

Thousands of USV drones are breaking news, i think,yes this works at least as torpedoes, and they are very powerfull. In quantity these USV are a neighmare, that can project beyond arab sea.

torpedos have less range but are almost impossible to intercept, these drone boats should be intercepted easily by modern navy destroyers (but not always as we see in Russia). a small, quiet USV might have success at night

Suicide boats have a lot of explosives, they also hit the bottom of the ship, which causes water to enter the ship and sink

I don t know why Iran does not leverage Hoot torpedo supercavitation capabilities. Iran torpedoes are 4x faster than conventional ones.

if Israel could use a satellite controlled machine gun to kill Fakhrizadeh with perfect accuracy inside iran in 2020, then I don't want to know what they are capable of now
Given poor security on Fakhrizadeh، I don’t believe much advanced things were needed. I believe, just by virtue of proximity, Hezbollah and Hamas have a better handle on these things.

leverage them how? it has 6 mile range and possibly only used by Kilo (3) and Fateh (1) class submarines

Israel admits 8 IDF terrorists liquidated by Hamas in Rafah today as Hamas destroy Namer APC

The deadliest incident since Hamas liquidated 21 IDF terrorists by firing a RPG at two buildings being rigged with explosives in January

the problem with them is they cant produce a vacuum effect under ship that do the most damage in case of torpedoes .
now if they manage to design these USVs to go under water at the last seconds that really can be devastating

Iran = Winner
Israel and its allies = Loser
Reality have differents facets, it is has not that easy.

Iran cannot answer tit for tat to Israel. Let me be a bit schematic;

1º.- Iran need to reinforce the conventional deterrent. That means 150 fighters. It could be 50 Kowsar, 50 JF-17, and 50 Su35... for example. Also in the Navy some equivalence and in the IRGC new armament. Artesh Army seems to be more balanced IMHO.

2º.- Iran need nuclear armament.

With the first you can answer and protect yourself from a contra-answer from Israel or rogue states. With the second you make and equivalence to 0 in equation.

For that reason Iran cannot answer and escalate proportionally to Israel murdering system. Doesn´t matter who is the power or the Generals of IRGC.

But I agree Iran is earning regional respect and strategically depth not only in the MENA Region. Also in the World. When US and their rogue state vassals are nervous and dedicate more and more money to contain Iran forces and regional politics that is a symbol of their foreign policy backwash.

This is why every modern navy warship uses manned guns such as Oerlikon 20mm
the modern ship use radar and E/o controlled guns not manned ones, you can hit nothing with manned guns on water if there is even small waves

some fast boats use it

Iran clearly isn’t trying to start a war with US Navy. Giving Houthi’s unmanned torpedo drones is a recipe for disaster.

Iran has unveiled unmanned torpedo drones

1718471759399.png

but it would likely need Beshad to guide it and if US Navy detects SIGNIT from Beshad helping a torpedo drone hit a US navy ship you are now in a war.

We know Iran is the most risk Averse. They like playing in the shadows, but the establishment avoids war at all costs.
