Nice, any idea how many are inducted/under production?
No one knows, but the speed of building karar is slow. Large number of karars have not been seen until now.

Is it being built from scratch or incorporating parts from other tanks in Iranian possession?

Karar is an upgrade of the T72. It's not being built from scratch. The images revealed of the interior clearly depict that its just the T72 Iran has already that they heavily upgraded. Nothing wrong with this as Iran has hundreds of T72 tanks that need to be upgraded. For it to be built from scratch, Iran would need to produce the tank engine most importantly or import hundreds in which a deal for such has not been made. Iran has a solid amount of tanks that needs to be upgraded, no need to build from scratch when you can upgrade existing platforms. Iran also doesn't face any threats of land invasion, so tank upgrades are not a high priority.

Currently, Karar's plan is to update the T72 tanks, but it was said that there is a plan to build new tanks, which has not yet been completed.
They did not announce the reason. It is possible that the problem is budget or technology

What was the name of the recent massive tank upgrade (from m60/M1) and that completely beats Karrar on paper

I hope this will not stay as a prototype, its features and technology was way beyond T-72 or Karrar

Iran can build the engine, problem is the engine is just same as T-72 which is not sufficient. Iran needs a more powerful and efficient tank engine.

More like the problem is it’s tanks and why invest in Tanks when the threat of land invasion is next to zero %.

Thus for Iran with limited budget a new mass produced tank is luxury and not needed. So it’s low priority on the list vs air defense, navy, and even Air Force.

The M60 upgrade is more superficial with some internal upgrades. It just ‘looks’ nice. It absolutely is not more capable then the “fully loaded” Karrar that was unveiled years ago.

Both upgrade programs are needed as Iran’s tanks are using variants that are now 30 years old in terms of tech.

Rebuild+Heavy upgradation is not a bad thing if the end product is capable. How does Karar fare against lets say T-90, Merkava etc?

Agree that heavy upgrade isn't bad. It is actually good for Iran's case. In terms of going against T-90, I think it can go against T-90 just fine. Both Karar and T90 stem from the T72 in many ways.
Karar against Merkava. Different tanks tbh. Merkava specifically built for urban combat of IDF. Yes Merkava is probably more tech advanced, but as we seen with Russia/Ukraine/Gaza, is that the most advanced tanks can be taken down with effective and smart anti tank warfare.

Also. Comparing it to T90 and Merkava doesn't mean too much as Iran would only use tanks against bordering land countries.
Armenia is no threat. Azerbaijan is no threat, despite some advanced weaponry, they are MUCH SMALLER in size and Iran's ground forces have more experience anyway.
Afghanistan and Turkmenistan are no threat either. Iraq isn't a threat to Iran anymore either. And the Pakistanis have maybe the same if not lower tank capabilities than Iran.
Now with Turkey, Turkey does have some solid tanks; however Iran's border with Turkey is all mountains so tanks are useless anyways.

Which t90 and which karrar. There are different version of both.
As always you get what you pay for

The Krarar tank is similar to the T-90 and T-72 tank updates.
Merkava is definitely a better plan than these, but it is unlikely that we will have a tank vs tank war.

For tank war in the future, the most important thing is to protect the tank against missile/drone threats.

Waste of money and Resource. Artesh and its endless crappy unveilings is a headache to say the least. Just destroy them all and build brand new ones from scratch.

Somebody tell me what is that damn thing that covers the main barrel?

They come and parade one or a couole of tanks and then expect us to believe that they have upgraded the whole fleet of M-60.

@AmirIGM tell me i am wrong. My position about our armed forces is clear but this is An insult to thousands of army martyrs to waste the budget and resources in this way.
