Nobody can say that Sahand was a top notch warship. There was nothing ‘fancy’ about Sahand.
Old ship design from the 60/70’s with some physical alterations. Old radar. And basic armament package.
Wasn’t sabatoge, it was ineptitude. No one is sitting out there plotting to sink Iran’s ‘modernized’ 1970’s design era ships.
You guys see boogeyman in every accident forgetting that Iran has a long long LONG history of skirting safety and precaution procedures.
It was a old design, but she was new. And moreover, she sailed in very complicated high seas. It has no sense to sunk when moored! at port. She was not maneovering for mooring or being collided by no any other vessel at port!.
And yeah, being not a modern naval warfare capable ship it was an excellent school for industry, crews and officers. It is a terrible loose for IRIN.
