Islamabad Talks - News & Discussions

brace yourself for an other destructive war in this region. in my opinion trump show gesture of talk to show that he is not to blame for this conflict and in next war it will be absolute blood bath and he will use power and when some ome question him he will say he tried but iranians were not interested.

Well , there’s a fundamental difference, if I understand correctly, after the deadline, congress, not trump, need declare the war, not simply honour the action of war started by trump.
Trump intentionally not naming it war, because if he call it war , then after 60 days he has to go to congress for approval. Even he may get support but he is afraid if the bill fail.

BREAKING: President Trump has canceled the trip by his special envoy Steve Witkoff and son-in-law Jared Kushner to Islamabad for another round of peace talks due to Iran’s posture during the negotiations, the president told reporters this morning in phone interviews.

"I don't see the point in sending them on an 18-hour flight in the current [state of the negotiations]. It's too long. We can just as well do it over the phone. The Iranians can call us if they want. We're not going to travel just to sit there,” Trump reportedly said to Axios.

This comes just after Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi and his delegation have flown out of Islamabad following their talks with Pakistani leaders. The White House had said Friday that Witkoff and Kushner would travel to Islamabad on Saturday morning.

Without JD Vance there, the talks were correctly determined by Iran to have been a pointless time wasting ruse ..

I don't need to threaten the Iranian , those who have the power are doing it....if there's no deal then there will be unconditional surrender.....cry me a river.
Let's wait and see and search definition of surrender ....if 440 kg 60% upgrade surrender to US...that's what Pakistan never wants it ....or remove the Hormuz toll.

When it comes to surrender the things you mentioned are neither here nor there.

Oman was much more discrete and professional than us. They didn't treat it like a wedding event.
Don't know what planet you are living , there were no negotiations in Oman.....the mighty Iranian objected to the presence of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia , Turkey and Egypt.... they wanted one on one with the Americans and got it in Geneva.... the result of that one on one is for all to see..... don't talk about things that are way above your pay grade.

Even with JD Vance these talks seemed to trouble some powerful people in Iran. Those involved in negotiations had to show either them or for their public perception and political image that they are taking a particularly strict line against US and others. They can't make a political image of themselves as giving away the victory their people think they have achieved in battlefield, on the negotiating table.

Yeah, not even waiting for Kushner and Witkoff was uncalled for and undiplomatic.

Again, Pakistan being made to look like a fool....
Americans themselves chose not to come.

Let's be honest. We knew they wouldn't come and they certainly weren't interested in a fair peace deal, regardless of Iranian posturing.

Tel Aviv has given the signal.

He is currently in power, he can say whatever he likes, especially when the congress currently still controlled by his gang. However, when he is gone, his enemies will determine the interpretation. Then certainly actions to eliminate entire civilisation of a country with ancient history will be defined as a war, strongly.

Another round of talks that failed again. I think as the people on this forum suggested, Pakistan shouldn't push both side more now. Pakistan should come clear to both sides that if they are really serious about peace only then they should request us in arranging the talks, otherwise its no use. Also both sides have an ego problem now and have to sell victory to their people.

Just fight now FFS. Neither side wants to strike a deal. So go at it until there's a winner.

I doubt , they are playing smart....more they drag , more the create hate against US and Israel. More they are bringing them in international lime light. Also US young elected congressmen are getting more and more anti war and anti Israel and raising the question of unconditional support to Israel. You don t see but its massive impact. Iran is under sanction for the last 47 years, they have nothin to lose and they learn to survive through bypassing the SWIFT.

Good post.
I don't know why so many here are ignoring analysts after analysts saying that Iran has gained the upper hand. Even an Israeli former Amb. Michael Herzog, whose video I posted yesterday, said that the fact that both parties want to talk shows they don't want an escalation.
Sure, Iran can be destroyed by massive carpet bombing and/or multiple nukes but the price the region, the attackers and the global economy would pay would be too much. This is not a toothless Venezuela being attacked. There are costs and benefits calculations going on from both sides.
I remain optimistic some kind of interim agreement will be made.
