BREAKING: President Trump has canceled the trip by his special envoy Steve Witkoff and son-in-law Jared Kushner to Islamabad for another round of peace talks due to Iran’s posture during the negotiations, the president told reporters this morning in phone interviews.
"I don't see the point in sending them on an 18-hour flight in the current [state of the negotiations]. It's too long. We can just as well do it over the phone. The Iranians can call us if they want. We're not going to travel just to sit there,” Trump reportedly said to Axios.
This comes just after Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi and his delegation have flown out of Islamabad following their talks with Pakistani leaders. The White House had said Friday that Witkoff and Kushner would travel to Islamabad on Saturday morning.
