You are asking the wrong question. What I think about why he is doing this is not important, he can be doing it because of the prize, or something else. I am just using an answer to refer to his action. I don't know why he did what he did; I am not him.

But the questions you should ask are

1.) What changes after this deal
2.) What did Trump get in return?

On the other hand, you can try to have a wild guess on what Trump's intention is. He doesn't believe Palestinians should have a state (his word, not mine), he believes Gaza should be razed and build a top-notch seaside resort and run by the American (again, his word, not mine), and as you said, he sends billions and billions of dollars of weapons to Israel, and now what? He suddenly had an enlightenment and tried to do the "right" thing, which wasn't going to solve anything?

Knowing Trump, you don't get him to do something unless there are something in it for him, tell me, what do you think is in it for him to do this?

Both American presidents - Biden and Trump - used these pauses, which they called "ceasefires", to replenish the Israeli stockpile of arms and also let their mass murdering troops rest before they renew the genocide. Former American Secretary of State Anthony Blinken stated these pauses are intended to help the Israelis achieve their goals.

This is what should be understood from the current pause. Israelis are in Gaza. They can violate the ceasefire any time without any repercussions, and Trump demanded today the disarmament of Palestinians in Gaza. He threatened to disarm them violently if the Palestinian resistance groups don't disarm voluntarily. Mind you, he is not committed to the formation of Palestinian state, so it is not clear how the resistance in Gaza can accept disarmament of resistance groups.

This doesn't look good. So far Israel has contributed nothing to the ceasefire. It got its hostages back and now the rhetoric to break the ceasefire has started up again.

The hostages were never a leverage either. It's propaganda to hide real intentions of the war. Now that hostages are out the way, the new casus belli is Palestinians have to 'disarm' or be killed.

What happens when new technocratic government takes over unoccupied parts of Gaza?

Will Israel withdraw from Gaza? Will it cease all attacks? If there are no weapons in Gaza who will defend Gaza if Israel seeks to annex parts of it one day?

This is why Palestinians must be allowed the universal right of self defense. With the right to bear arms to protect their territory.
