I remember when people said FATA’s merger with KPK would never work.

The merger was also due, as tribal laws were different from the rest of Pakistan; e.g. a political agent was an enforcer who was selected, collective punishment, etc.

You either support more provinces or what may be easier would be to empower local bodies in letter and spirit. For as long as the ruling parties don't solve the issue of local governance with sincerity, creating more provinces may just be like, as the Americans say, putting lipstick on the pig.

Every government has passed the baton to the next to tackle this problem. If you don't have the locals vested in the betterment of their own home and hearth, creating additional administrative overhead won't solve the problem.

Each city needs its own citizens running the administration and police. Not outsiders imposed. You have to live the life in the place to see the issue and want improvement.

Question of true intentions ....
So, who is truly honest with the Pakistani people? Or is this entire system just an elite culture driven by a conflict among competing "interest groups"? Politicians like Nawaz Sharif, Asif Ali Zardari, and their elite clans show no interest in creating new provinces. Instead, they enjoy immense wealth, purchasing billion rupee private jets, driving luxury cars, taking lavish foreign trips with their families, and maintaining absolute control over the country's financial resources. Right now, Pakistan seems to be a complex can of worms.

Now that I have grown up and actually got more awareness, professionally (not politically), you realize how majority of the faujis are dumb as rocks (no offence to any fauji, my whole family is fauji). They are totally inept to resolve social or economic issues...and IDK who told them they were good at it.

Ok- so if those with the greatest power are dumb in general and I don't disagree. Then Regardless of whatever system is the best and the most efficient and so on - whats the point if it never gets implemented. As in no change happens at all.

The current plan with the provinces is all about F-Akbar Marshall being able to dangle control over Punjab while putting it on Sindh and usual play one against the other... but in reality what usefulness has the ethnic grouping of provinces provided other than division in the first place? After all, the One unit schemes led to two countries - maybe try the opposite direction? Maybe that leads to one country finally??

If anyone remembers, Bhutto came in Punjab and Sindh - the majority said something else and then you had 90k prisoners and people dying of heart attack shocks not realising how far the division had gone.. wahi ho raha hai aur saaray ka saaray usko aur charhaney mein lagay howe hain hafiz sb, nani plastic and CM kharary included.

Then Bhutto was brought down - part by fauj engineering and part by his own ego(that is common between him and IK.. so I guess there are paralells) on Nizam E mustafa and then that Frankenstein alliance was gone in a year because when those bearded qtiyas cannot even pray behind or even next to each other because of the color of their pagri.. you think they will unite for some civic change???

I am pro-new provinces, but deep down I know that we'll only get 28 new fiefdoms with 28 new families instead of just 2. It might just lead to more chaos.
