Lt Col Anwar Abbas Shaheed 86L/C ex 60BR Lieutenant Colonel Anwar Abbas Butt Shaheed was born in Gujrat on February 6, 1971. He completed his matriculation from Public High School No-1, Gujrat in 1987. After his matriculation and fsc he joined the Pakistan Military Academy. He graduated from the Pakistan Military Academy in 1992 and joined the Baloch Regiment, receiving a commission in the 60 Baloch Regiment the same year. During his military service, he also served in Sierra Leone from 2004 to 2005.
Lt Col. Anwar Abbas was deployed in Hangu for two years, where he conducted numerous operations against militants. Subsequently, he was transferred to Orakzai Agency. Clashes erupted suddenly in Orakzai Agency when militants from the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) attacked security force camps in Kalaya, Shna checkpoint, and bunkers in the Ferozkhel area. The militants staged simultaneous attacks on these positions, resulting in the occupation of the Shna post. However, security forces, under the of the Lt Col. Anwar Abbas Butt, regained control of the Shna post from the militants. In the ensuing battle he along with four other personnel, embraced martyrdom.
Lt Col. Anwar Abbas Butt along with Lance Naik Ahmadullah and Frontier Corps personnel Taj Khan, Ubaid, and Rabat Khan, fought bravely to recapture the post before ultimately sacrificing their lives.
