PAF J-35AE - News, Updates and Discussions

It seems to have far less bumps and bulges on the body compared to the F-35. Needless to say sure the Chinese leanred a lot of what they were able to extract secretly about the F-35.

If the thrust to weight ratio is the same as the F-35 (and on paper it is claimed to be) and the data fusion is as good, this will be a beast. Pretty unchallangeable in South Asia, and I would go so far as to say even when the AMCA comes along.....
The F-35 from the get go was always constrained by the need to accommodate a STOVL version. Everything in the aircraft is hampered around it - but then it eventually does translate to some economies of scale.

No.

J35 (WS21) is the export version.J35A (WS19) is the PLAAF version. They are fundamentally different.

If the export version is J35AE, it means it uses WS19 engine. Not possible at the moment.

Why would Pakistan and other export customers settle for the inferior WS-21 when the WS19 is available?

This export version with inferior WS-13E/WS-21 makes little sense.

There is no good reason for China to restrict the engine performance and even the US does not do this with export model fighters. US did try this in the 1970s with the F-16/79 but no one was interested in it.

Only difference between PLAAF/PLAN versions would be different radar and avionics as China would want to protect its highest end technology from falling into enemy hands.

Since most Kelly it wont be available for export. I‘m pretty sure China won‘t risk loosing one of Pakistan‘s J-35 together with its latest engine somewhere somewhen in India!

So, if Paksitan wants that bird so eagerly, they must accept, that they maybe get it only with the older/weaker engine.

PAF J-35s won't be flying anywhere near the Indian border even.

They will be used to defend Pakistani airspace.

No-one is going to be buying J-35 with WS-13E engine - lol.

No-one said WS-13E … but hey, if you want that thing so soon, you maybe have to accept that it won‘t get the variant you want (IMO anyway impossible) or with some strings attached!

WS-13E seems to be that WS-21 being mentioned.

Apart from testing the WS-21 is not going to be put in actual production aircraft.

I am sure that no one is that desperate that they will want to hurry induction by 1-2 years to get a J-35 with WS-21 engine! Not that China would ever offer this as they will not build production aircraft with a last generation engine.

Not inky is it stunner, it seems ready for serial production, I m sure we will get deliveries in 2025

maybe we should look at it from the aspect of aggressive marketing by China to woo the Arab countries.

It being in Pakistan will get shown to these countries and display its capabilities in joint exercises.

They have to move quickly before these countries commit to from somewhere else.

Never an issue for Pakistan - it’s linked to induction date.

WS-19 will be bought or incorporated when it’s ready and PLA feels confident with it.

WS-21 shares core with RD-93 I believe and that enables much faster onboarding as well.
