Pakistan Weather News / Updates

Lakes / Water reservoir have become a critical thing to control floods. These reservoirs work with by-pass water channels that in advance release majority of lake water in flood's opposite direction. That way the lakes consume all flood water and continue to channel extra water away from the flood risk area as need be. This animation explains the concept of by-pass channels somewhat. There is always a water reservoir or lake at the beginning of this by-pass channel and at the end. Giving two points to store large amounts of flood water.

India's released more water into Ravi, Satluj and Punjab. This would create more issues in days to come. Plus the monsoon isn't over yet.

bana kr dekha do, momin kabhi floods mein nahi phans sakta...

there are epistemological an philosophical reasons for this, I could explain privately.

lakin humari ajj ki majmoi society ki shakal mein dekh kar aisa lagta hai ky floods humary pechay hein

I know the political and ethnic issues sadly on dams. These lakes / reservoirs are not dams. These can be built within every province by it's own funding, independent of others. So Punjab can build it's own water reservoirs as they cost a fraction of a dam. KPK, Sindh etc can build their own by identifying regions considered at high risk of floods.

Person who is ahead of his time and his vision enables him to see fragility in 'even well-functioning' and structured developments cannot ever find himself caught in floods

floods are 'vacum' and create low (low inflationary) air pressures!

there are birds which can mimick sounds of its prey's prey, but, only problem is those birds still are no more than 'sound stones'!

a food for thought: in 10 years time, with a current flood situation, would you be inclined to say 'motorway' projects and incessent urban developments in major cities was 'sunk cost', had we invest heavily in damns only?!!!

would you or any one?!! or would see this question with a biased eye of you political affiliation....... there are you are, thats your problem, your mind is a political prison!

at a deeper level, problem lies in our selves, we dont ponder over problems.

in this world, most robust thing man has ever produced in electricity, even that is fragile!

electricity runs and its flow can represent time, in certain instances, but its understanding of breakages, is no ordinary feat!

building damns (like wise, that too timely is no ordinary feat!)

Yes! India coud've released water slowly into these rivers avoiding massive floods. But they released big water loads after their dams were filled to destroy our agriculture land. This is a water attack, nothing less.

It's raining heavy in India, they have the weather radars that tell them expected rain and for how many days. If they wanted to play fair, they would've released water from dams 2 days before their dams were at full capacity in pieces. Water would've come and go in those pieces.

What they did instead, is they waited until their dams were at full capacity, then they released massive loads of water, and not only that, double those loads by forecasting rain that was taking place. While they needed to do this exact thing a few days earlier respecting Pakistani population and avoiding damage to us.

I've said it before in many posts, India wants nothing but extinction of Pakistan and Pakistani population. They say "we've left Pakistan behind, we are a bigger nation". And just read up on this forum, it will tell you this nation if obsessed with Pakistan. They want to avenge Ghaznavi, Mohammad Bin Qasim and Mughals, all from Pakistan by eliminating it however possible.

The video you uploaded has a dam at 17 seconds.

We want to build lakes. This video was an example for the readers. Not a design Pakistani government is putting in :)
Pakistani government is not putting any design. They are not creating lakes. The bowl is your design.

So you have 2 bowls 20 km from one another and you want to transfer water from one to another. You need a weir. Maybe 3 meters below the height of the bowl. Then the canal another 2 meters drop. and then the canal needs a gradient maybe 10m for 20 km distance. So your second bowl will have to be around 15 meters below the first. You do not empty first bowl into second bowl. When the first bowl has too much water, it overflows into the canal that takes it to the second bowl. Then second bowl needs to be empty otherwise you are transferring floods from one place to another.
