‘Pakistan’s poverty rate higher than India, B’desh’

Comparisons between India and Pakistan are no longer meaningful, not only because of the growing economic disparity, but also because the two countries are fundamentally different in social and cultural terms.

India is a Hindu-majority nation, while Pakistan is a Muslim-majority one. The World Bank’s decision to shift Pakistan from the South Asia region to the MENAAP region reflects this reality.

That is so true bro. We need people to return to Pakistan to build it.
Pakistanis just need to behave like humans and 50% of problems will resolve by itself. Stop throwing litter everywhere, stop spitting gutka on walls, stop driving like its your baap ka road and accidents will be reduced by 90%. Yes government is incompetent I am not denying that but are common people any better?

What for?

What is the motivation for them sacrificing better lives to come back to Pakistan?
What is waiting for them with open arms?

Stability? No
You have choices between a corrupt elite - that have an organized military acting as their enforcement branch or charlatan's shouting slogans who lead the weak minded into aimless crusades for their own ego.

Security? No
That same military cannot even protect itself because of plain resources but is good to push and oppress people around for this elite or even on its own.

Belonging? No
From the minute you are born in Pakistan you are subjected to ethnic, religious , class and performance led hatred. There is NOTHING in the country that drives a sense of belonging or welcome whether you come out of a womb or land at the airport.
The only message you get is "Oh, let me see how I can make your life miserable today because my own is".

So no thank you - plenty of other suckers for charlatans to ask for a "ghar wapsi".
Correct, Sir. But still we need a way to help Pakistan as much as we can.

Do you want a rich England under Germany or a poor England independent? - Jinnah to a British journalist, Hector Bolitho, on the fiscal viability of Pakistan

As for Pak econmy, 70% of it is undocumented and undeclared. According to Shabbir Zaidi, a top-ranking Pak finance expert, no business organizations in Pakistan - be it a corner store on the street or a top conglomerate- keep formal books to record their transactions! And, it started during the time of President Zia-ul Haq. I am pretty sure the Pak Deep State wants it that way for it's geo-strategic goals and achievements depend on that. No wonder the US State Department wants to look at the finances of the Pak defense expenditure....

If it wasn't for the incompetent military rulers we wouldn't be in this mess.

That's an oversimplification. We also have corrupt civilian governments & elites.

We also have a lot of feudalism in Sindh. Fault lies all over. But the scariest thing is our population is still growing.

I would imagine India's and Bangladesh's extreme poverty is worse than Pakistan's extreme poverty.

This statistics are really messed up.

One has to go to the countries and see for themselves.

A Bangladeshi poster on the older forum posted: "why can't Bangladeshi people eat statics for breakfast, lunch & dinner."

As a day job, I play with "statistics" to look good, no matter what, as far as our products are concerned. Bad statistics and I'm on the streets....

Maybe few want a dysfunctional dependent state barely surviving to avoid the inevitable fallout along with its security implications.

Acc to UNDP 38% pakistani people live under poverty, these stats are just the final outcome.

Terrorism, sectarianism, security , food & energy crisis shows a trend( documented or undocumented doesn't matter), which pakistan appears to have no solution.

I have seen his podcasts . 70% claim seems like hot air.

What raw material does this 70% larger economy consume ? Steel electricity coal fuel yarn ? What does it produce? Numbers don't match up.

Most of these claims of a massive secret undeclared GDP are just hogwash. The problem of hiding income to save taxes is not unique to Pakistan. That is why GDP measurement methodolgies rely on measuring expenditure which is more anonymous and difficult to attribute than income.

In any case, proxies for the GDP like foreign trade, reserves, etc cannot be manipulated without co-operation from all other sovereign countries and international organisations and they are all consistent with the officially estimated size of the economy.

Solution remains what it always was. And that day will come when the solution is implemented. And, as if by magic, our water and food security will be solved, the funding of Talibs and BLA will cease instantly, and campaigns on behalf of "pashtun independence", "baloch independence", "sindhi independence" will cease. All as if by some brahmanic miracle.

India - the country with the largest number of beggars in the world and the most children starving - yet you want to use a thread like this to point score?
