Jakarta. Jakarta gubernatorial candidate Ridwan Kamil has pledged to continue the accomplishments of the city’s previous governors.

"I am confident that all past governors have made significant contributions. We are committed to building on the achievements of Heru Budi Hartono as acting governor, Anies Baswedan, as well as Djarot Saiful Hidayat, Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama, and Joko Widodo. Their legacies deserve recognition and continued effort," Ridwan said after being endorsed by 12 parties for the top position in Jakarta on Monday.

He outlined his next steps, starting with ongoing political negotiations and preparations for the campaign phase. Ridwan Kamil and his running mate Suswono will present their vision to the public.

"We hope Jakarta’s residents will support our vision for a new and progressive Jakarta over the next five years," Kamil said. "We are dedicated to working hard and fulfilling our promises."

The former Governor of West Java also addressed major challenges facing Jakarta, particularly the climate crisis.

"We must urgently confront the climate crisis. Rising sea levels and persistent flooding from the south are ongoing threats, and we are preparing technical solutions," he concluded.

Twelve political parties have officially endorsed Ridwan Kamil and Suswono as their candidates for Governor and Deputy Governor of Jakarta in the 2024 regional elections, positioning them as leading contenders.

The supporting parties include Gerindra, Golkar, PKS, Nasdem, PKB, PSI, PAN, Demokrat, Garuda, Gelora, Perindo, and PPP. The announcement was made at Hotel Sultan in Jakarta, with Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka in attendance.

Ridwan Kamil, born on October 4, 1971, in Bandung, West Java, holds a degree in architecture from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) and a Master’s in Urban Design from the University of California, Berkeley. He began his career in architecture, founding the firm Urbane. His political career began as Mayor of Bandung in 2013, where he implemented smart city initiatives and enhanced public services. Elected Governor of West Java in 2018, he focused on infrastructure, poverty alleviation, and digital governance.

Winning Jakarta Gov election is a stepping stone to win Presidential election in the future

Ridwan is part of Golkar party, biggest party in Indonesia now and part of Prabowo Subianto coalition that is now having 80 % backing in the parliament. This coalition will also cooperate in almost all local election through out Indonesia that will be held just one day in November this year.

Other interesting news is also the raise of Ilham Habibie for West Java Governor and he is part of the same coalition with Ridwan Kamil that in October will start leading Indonesia forward inshaAllah.

Participants (Official) for Jakarta Gov

1. Ridwan Kamil (KIM coalition)
2. Pramono Anum (PDI P Candidate)
3. Independent

_________^^

Ridwan Kamil is expected to win based on its popularity compared to other candidates.

RK is expected to win with 56 % vote based on recent survey. So Jakarta local election look like doesnt need second round.

My analysis is that RK will likely win at minimum 65 % vote as the other candidates popularity are not as strong as him.

Jakarta. With three months remaining until the Jakarta 2024 gubernatorial election, attention is turning to the highly anticipated public debates, where candidates for governor and vice governor will face off.

“The topics for the debates are still being finalized,” Astri said during a press briefing at the her office on Monday.

She added that the debate subjects will align with Jakarta's five-year development plan, focusing on issues central to the Regional Long-Term Development Plan (RPJPD), crafted by the Jakarta Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda).

The public debates are scheduled for two rounds in October and one in November 2024. Meanwhile, KPUD Jakarta is conducting administrative reviews of candidate documents and will officially announce the candidates on Sept. 22.

The 2024 Jakarta gubernatorial election will see three candidate pairs: Ridwan Kamil-Suswono, supported by a coalition of 12 political parties; Pramono Anung-Rano Karno, backed by PDI-P; and the independent candidates, Dharma Pongrekun-Kun Wardana.

Jokowi first become Jakarta Gov before go to national level

Anies Baswedan also become Jakarta Gov first before competing in National level (Presidency) where he gets second biggest vote and fighting both Ganjar from PDI-P and Prabowo that is already wellknown figure since Soeharto era and backed by Jokowi.
