New car sales in Russia gain 50.9% year-on-year in June to 124,394 units, leading to a year-to-date tally up 79.1% to 719,311. Lada (+43.8%) trails the market slightly and sees its share thaw to 27.5% vs. 28.8% so far this year. In contrast Haval (+83.7%) advances fast to 12.2% share vs. 11.3% and while Chery (+34.7%) captures less ground than the overall trend it sees its market share progress to 10.9% vs. 9.9% year-to-date. Geely (+60.6%) is also in great shape but not as much as Changan (+188.6%) breaking its volume (five figures for the first time) and share records. Omoda (+51.9%) and newcomer Belgee follow. Jetour (+5544.6%) celebrates one year in market by breaking both its volume and share records. Jaecoo repeats at #10 for its second ever Top 10 outing.
Model-wise, the Lada Granta (+0.8%) edges up to stay on top with 12.9% share while the Lada Vesta (+401.7%) cements its 2nd place but sees its share drop to 9.3% vs. 10.7% last month. The AEB now expects 1.45 million new car sales this year. In January, it had predicted that new passenger car sales would increase by 15% year-on-year to reach 1.3 million units.
The updated forecast comes in light of a robust sales performance in the first half of the year, despite challenges posed by parallel imports and regulatory measures, Alexei Kalitsev, chairman of the AEB's Automobile Manufacturers Committee, said in a statement.

In Russia, used car sales in June 2024 decreased by 11% compared to the same month last year. reports “Autostat Information” with reference to data on vehicle re-registration.
According to him, last month 519.9 thousand used passenger cars were re-registered compared to 581.9 thousand in June 2023. At the same time, sales of second-hand cars of foreign brands also fell by 13% (to 372 thousand cars), falling above the market.
The domestic automobile market decreased by 4% to 147.9 thousand units.
By the end of the first half of the year, the used car market in Russia fell by 6% compared to the same period last year. From January to June 2024, 2.98 million cars were re-registered in the country.
The used car market rose in March and April, then fell. Only the used Ladas segment is growing: from January to June, 741.2 thousand cars of this brand changed owners – 2% more than a year ago.
