At the end of June 2024, 69.4 thousand new passenger cars were imported to Russia. This became known on July 4, during the online broadcast "AUTOSTAT Operative. Operative information on the Russian car market. Results of June 2024". June volumes were much lower than March volumes, when a sharp increase in imports of new passenger cars could be observed. Already in April, a sharp decline began.
Sergey Udalov, Executive Director of the analytical agency "AUTOSTAT", connects such jumps with the change of import rules from April 1. In March, importers tried to bring the maximum volume of cars, which led to a decrease in imports in the following months. Now the import of new passenger cars has stabilized. A total of 408.5 thousand new passenger cars were imported into Russia for six months, which is 79.8% more than in the same period last year.
In June 2024, among new cars, the most imported were Chery Tiggo 7 PRO Max, Changan CS55 PLUS, OMODA C5, Chery Tiggo 4 PRO and Haval M6. As for imports of used cars, 32.8 thousand vehicles were delivered in June, and 177.8 thousand vehicles in total for 6 months. This is 19.2% less than in the first six months of 2023. The top 5 in terms of imported cars with used cars were cars with small engine capacity. These are Japanese Honda Freed, Toyota Corolla, Honda Fit, Honda Stepwgn, Toyota Wish. In June, new passenger cars were most often imported from China (93.7% of total imports), Kazakhstan (1.9%) and Belarus (1.7%). Used cars were supplied from Japan (66.1%), South Korea (13.7%) and Belarus (10%).
