This war is destroying BOTH Russia and Ukraine in the long run, Ukraine is basically finished after this and have to resigned to NATO (or China) Russia is going to be seriously under Chinese control after this war
It will take them 10+ years just to take Donbas, that is if we go by the current progress and everything goes Russia way (ie no Ukrainian counter attack within this timeframe).However, Russia by the looks of it is in this for the long haul, I don't see them backing off, they will take the Donbass and keep going
How long do you think Russia need to take Donbas?The RUAF are just doing their thing. The AFU are the ones running around Kursk like headless chickens hoping to get something done. The primary objective hasn't changed: Liberate the Donbass. The new secondary objective is: Kick out AFU from Kursk. And then they will most likely advance on Volchansk and Sumy, consolidating the third objective, which is to create the buffer zone.
I understand what you mean but look at it this way, Sievierodonetsk, Bakhmut, Advivka, Soledar, all were occupied with huge losses, but they also were fortified over a span of 8 years, many among em key logistical hubs, Pokrovsk is soon gonna get occupied, and it was heavily fortified and was being used as a staging point, Niu York is already done.
My point was, all of these heavily fortified cities, altough their pre-war population was small, they still are the main fortifications and they are getting overrun. After them, Kursk like scenario would play out with open fields and not the...
