What does China get out of this partnership?

China has dumped Russia and is going it alone on C929 airliner.
China could have had a potential customer in the Russian Sphere/CIS countries, but considering Europe pulls the certification for the Sukhoi Superjet, China is better off still having the ability to get verified in Europe than risk losing the certification just to be able to sell to Russia.

It does look nice for sure - but knowing Russia - avionics/EW systems will suck as usual ( my view ) - i do think Egypt should look at this and get into the action if it does not like the idea of Ka'an or FC-31, as a development partner and contribute techology and workshare etc.

IMO China may be interested in acquiring this platform for carrier ops.

You are too underestimating Russia, and overwhelming china. Yet one side Russia is having battle experience and other side, their weapons looks good on paper but not yet tested or proven.

If I look at Chinese weapons, majority are Russian upgraded/copied onces, just from a few years they have started working on own.

C929 - using the foreign engine only. Sukhoi superjet 100, build over 200 airplanes, and mostly facing from western restrictions and other political causes.

India needs so many other systems much more, to dream of a strategic bomber - and even more so a project that maybe won't ever materialise and will never be exported - is again just a wet-dream.
How can you be so sure and say that?

History says something and people should not ignore it.

A few decades only, USA and UK - sent their naval warships against India.

A sometime ago, Russia offered to india and was about to make a deal for TU22 M3 bomber aircrafts.

Even sometimes back - there was discus going on for tu 160 aircraft

Future is unpredictable, and you are right - at the time we don't need it, but doesn't mean that we wouldn't need in future

Well, if India wants, it might follow the Su30Mki way and mix the platform with western avionics.

But the only problem is that they are not near F22/F35 aircraft.

Why would India want this when the AMCA is a funded project and the IAF has stated it's requirement for it? Plus there's Tejas Mk1A, Tejas Mk2 which the IAF has clearly stated will be ordering in significant numbers.

And now that AMCA is a funded project, why would DRDO/HAL/ADA agree to play second fiddle to a design already quite advanced? If the IAF wants a 5th gen single engine design, they'll want to use the AMCA Mk2's 110-120 kN engine and design a single engine fighter around that.

Given the threat of US sanctions, and India's efforts to move away from Russian arms for various reasons, the possibility of Indian participation in Su-75 is very remote.

yeah - not 5th gen fighter, but Tupolev PAK DA is a good aircraft.

that something, india needs to look it

Nobody has even seen it and you know it's a good aircraft?

UCAVs and the AMCA are the way forward when it comes to stealthy platforms for the IAF as it itself sees it.

India needs strategic bombers, not now but in the future

And for that the Ghatak UCAV being developed indigenously is the way forward.

First India needs to get that right and then only if the IAF sees any value in a manned flying wing design, will any such program be taken up.

AMCA - not coming before 15 years. Don't trust so much on those big mouth speakers

It will take 10 years atleast for stealth UAV and economy is growing and India's need strategic bombers in the future.

C919 domestic engine CJ-1000A is being tested for over a year on the Y-20A, which itself is now being powered by 4 Chinese WS-20 turbofan engines.

C929 will use the CJ-2000A engine which is scaled up version of the C919 domestic engine.

Chinese aerospace technology is now probably only 2nd to the US after the successful development of the WS-15 engine for J-20. UK is probably comparable to China but will fall behind very soon.

Underestimate China at your peril!

It's a good platform for replacing MiG-29 which has similar size.

What are the potential benefits of acquiring stealthy strategic bombers for India?
