“Milchmädchenrechnung” is the term used to describe a naive calculation or line of reasoning that overlooks key factors and therefore arrives at a conclusion that, while plausible, is incorrect.
In short, according to these, a girl goes to the market with a jug to sell milk, and as she walks, she dreams of the profit with which she wants to buy this and that—including another calf—so she can sell even more milk later and eventually become rich... unfortunately, she isn’t paying attention, stumbles, and the milk jug breaks!
