The Evolution of PAF's JF-17 Thunder through OCU [Operational Capability Upgrade] - News, Updates, Possibilities & Discussions.

It appears that CATIC is involved in developing high end fighters and they are no longer enthusiastic about JF-17. Why doesn’t Pakistan take over full production of the fighter.
that is exactly what we are predicting for PFX, how likely it will be, im not sure

Crazy that JF-17 platforms evolution includes Russian, Chinese, Turkish, Western and Pakistani DNA. Are there any such aircrafts in history made with components from different blocs of countries?
-Engine is already Russian and its evolution RD-93MA is reportedly used
-Airframe design, Hybrid MAWS , Main BVR etc remains Chinese
-Aselpod is already Turkish
-AIM-9 WVR - Western
- REK etc Localised

*Italian Radar was tried but issue appeared.

Tejas ? would be a mixture of Israel, France , Indian , US etc

When you have less of High tech Eco system and most of Assembling - Plug and Play is the route.

Although Localised AESA , BVR etc would fit in the Further development of JF-17

When the world is an open arms market, most suppliers are open to sell for the right price.

In fact, initially the parts from only four countries were used for the development of JF-17 Thunder. Specifically, Martin-Baker ejection seats came from UK (FC-1 used Chinese seats though), Engine from Russia, and the bulk of components was produced in China and Pakistan. Italian Leonardo's Grifo radar was never used on any inducted Thunder. Turkish POD was integrated much later and that is a very healthy sign. That is more of a capability than a liability. Fighter planes all over the world integrate (or desire to do so) suitable weapon systems sourced from other countries. The ability of the PAF to do that is indeed an asset and a matter of excitement.

"PAC had the capability of not only producing the airborne fire control radars but also has vast experience in maintaining three variants of Grifo radars.
Russian Super Komar radar was put on trials. It was a development of the Phazotron Kopyo (Spear) radar.
In Trials - the Italian radar on Protptype, it lacked the capability of multi-target tracking and engagement via semi-active radar homing air-to-air missiles. However, it does have multi-target tracking capability (up to 8) and single-target engagement capability via semi-active radar homing air-to-air missiles and when using active radar homing air-to-air missiles, two targets can be simultaneously engaged.
