Train's of india !

The engineering task took hundreds of thousands of lives which were on most parts not bothered to be documented. Unfortunately no attempts have been made to highlight the human toll extracted for such colonial projects. Documentation of human suffering is trivialised as a side note in memoirs of colonial officers like J. Patterson.
same / similar story in the west coast of the USA as well. Hundreds of Chinese laborers lost their lives and limbs building railroad

Train network are spreading into North East india. The route and scenery is amazing..

I know this is not the right thread and Indian trains aren't a world class either by any means

but why are trains in the rest of the subcontinent in such a dilapidated condition, they quite literally look like death boxes on wheels
Given the fact that they would one of the most important means of mass transport in any poor country

I was watching a train YouTuber who took a train across pakistan in premium class and my mind raced back to 2000s India
Same case with Sri Lankan Railway (which was somehow even worse, having personally travelled on one)
Haven't seen much of Bangladeshi Railway but barring few trains they too seem overcrowded and profoundly unsafe (people travelling overhead, 1950s signalling infra etc)

Your opinions @Oscar @Prince_ @El Sidd

what do you mean "rest of the subcontinent"? A majority of trains in India are still very below par. It starts with capacity management : we have probably the largest commuter and event-travel base yet most commuter and event capacities are a fraction of what they should be.

Is the Mumbai suburban train fit for use by anyone other than very strong youth? The crush has been unchanged for decades now.

Is there a single event for which public can seamlessly reserve and travel in comfort? A large fraction of them are invaded by unreserved ticket holders making travel with family hellish

Except the highly staffed and controlled Vandhe Bharat trains, is there any one train that you can use the toilet without stopping breathing ?

Is there one railway police or guard that will take responsibility for keeping the station safe or the compartment clean ?

This has nothing to do with poverty. We lack sense of hygiene , and we lack personal integrity

I have reasonable explanation and replies for every misguided bullshit you just said, but it's very clear from the tone of your post that you are not in the right state of mind to have a debate so I won't waste my breath either.

If you were in your right state of mind you would see that I explicitly said Indian trains aren't good either,
Additionally I was talking about the quality of actual trains and signalling infra not how competent railway management is (all your criticisms boil down to bad management, when that isn't what I was even talking about)
