Turkey should have started the development of a 4th generation fighter jet as well. Fifth generation fighter jets are not going to replace 4th generation jets entirely in the future; more capable 4th generation fighter jets will continue to be developed. Advancements in radar, IRST, satellite, and other technologies to detect aircraft may eventually render stealth geometry less effective. But, 4th generation fighter jets will always have their place and will remain the mainstay of all major air forces around the world. The USAF is also looking into the development of a new 4th generation fighter jet to replace the F-16, which they have called "5th generation minus."Electronic Warfare Systems play an important role to jam enemy Radars and Communications. Turkey has paid 23 billion USD for just 40 F16 block 70 and upgrade kits for existing fleet of F16, F16 is also a fourth generation fighter jet
“The Air Force will consider a ‘clean-sheet design’ for a new ‘four-and-a-half-gen or fifth-gen-minus’ fighter as a direct replacement for the F-16s currently in service,” said Brown, adding the service has already launched a study to look at possible alternatives. The US is not looking at developing a new 4th gen aircraft, where did you get this stuff?
With regards to a cheaper fighter, Turkey is building a Lead In fighter based on the Hurjet as well as Wingman drones like the the Anka 4 and Kizilelma to compliment the KAAN.

The U.S. Air Force Just Admitted The F-35 Stealth Fighter Has Failed
The U.S. Air Force’s chief of staff wants the service to develop an affordable, lightweight fighter to replace hundreds of aging F-16s and complement a small fleet of sophisticated F-35 stealth fighters. But an affordable, lightweight fighter is exactly what the F-35 was first conceived to be.www.forbes.comWatch US’ Latest Fighter Jets That Could Sideline The F-35s & Replace The Iconic F-16 Jets
Watch US' Latest Fighter Jets That Could Sideline The F-35s & Replace The Iconic F-16 Jets
Even as the US Air Force is hunting for advanced jets to replace F-16s, independent experts have floated a new design called 'F-36 Kingsnake' pitching it as America's next fighter jet.www.eurasiantimes.com
The latest F-16 Block 70 is not cheap; it costs almost as much as an F-35. Turkey bought 40 F-16 Block 70 jets and upgrade kits for its existing fleet of F-16s at a cost of $23 billion. The USA can develop a new 4th generation fighter jet from scratch that could be more capable than the F-22 Raptor, F-35, Rafale, and Eurofighter Typhoon, except for the stealth geometry.Yeah I heard about this, but its supposed to be a fighter version of the T-7 trainer potentially, honestly it sounds more like USAF corruption than anything else, Boeing lost out on the contracts for the F-22 and the F-35, Northrup is getting the Bombers contracts, so that leaves Boeing out, so probably some Boeing lobbying going on pitching the T-7 variant.

Formal T-7 flight testing is now set to begin and talk about an F-7 fighter version could have broader ramifications for the Air Force.www.twz.com

23 billion dollars???
23 billion dollars???
And our MoD keeps boasting about 20 F-35s....
I tell you,if the deal with the Saudis goes well, prepare for a loooot of money. Its being scaled back like people predicted, it would have been $23 billion if they bought the max value of the package offered, Turkey wants to renegotiate prices and what specifically it will receive as well as allow for them to produce them in Turkey as much as possible, and permission to modify with its own subsystems when applicable, so the money gets recycled in Turkey somewhat.
My knowledge of intergovernmental military purchase agreements is limited, but I have been informed by others that the $23 billion price tag is essentially an initial asking price. It is likely that the final negotiated amount will be significantly lower once the discussions are concluded.23 billion dollars???
