Nothing conclusive, we have heard things for it will be disassembled and remain in Turkey but since its disassembled, it will no linger be considered an S-400. Then we heard a story that it will be transferred to Nakhchivan in Azerbaijan, then we heard it will be returned by to Russia. Nothing conclusive, the bargaining seems to still be going on, they want to get a definitive answer on the F-35(something the Israelis are lobbying against), otherwise its useless to give up S-400 and not receive.

Turkey paid $2.5 Billion. But Its not a matter or right or wrong, its that things have changed since 2015, to where the S-400 is not really as unreplaceble as before, with the development of the Turkish domestic air defense. As of right now, the only thing the S-400 has is the Anti Ballistic air defense, other than that, Turkey has largely built a domestic capacity for an equivalent with the Hisar and SIPER air defense systems, and by 2028, Turkey would be able to completely replace the S-400 in Anti ballistic Missile defense, so the system has become more expendable. In 2015 none of what exists today was there, and Turkey was vulnerable.

It won't make a difference, those F-35s need codes sent by Lockheed to work. The US can brick every F-35 if they wanted to. The real value of that jet is the information gained on the sensor fusion and sensor integration, and the examining of the F135 engine, to boost Turkey's own domestic KAAN project.

the F-35 like as a flying computer

1 -- The Misison Data Load has to be loaded into the F-35’s onboard computer before each mission and has to be updated after each mission

2 -- All F-35s must update their mission files and Autonomic Logistics Information System (ALIS) profiles before and after each flight


Only the US is currently capable of programming the MDL and ALIS for all F-35s in the World
