Tears of 'rioters' as they are hauled before court: Sobbing 'thug' denies threatening woman, protester who pushed wheelie bin at cops says she has 'mental health issues' - and burglar says 'nice one lads' as he's taken to cells

A suspected rioter sobbed in the dock today while a woman who pushed a wheelie bin at police complained she had poor mental health.

Curtis Coulson, who is accused of waving a stick 'in a threatening manner' towards a woman during a riot in Sheffield, wiped away tears throughout his 20 minute-long appearance in court today.

The 30-year-old, who denied one charge of affray, became even more upset when he was refused bail and remanded in custody at Sheffield Magistrates Court. He was among at least 25 riot suspects to be hauled before court today.

Meanwhile, in Liverpool, 28-year-old career criminal Adam Wharton pleaded guilty to burglary in relation to serious disorder on Saturday night at Spellow Library in Walton, which was torched and looted. He said 'nice one lad' as he was led down to the cells.

Downing Street held an emergency Cobra response meeting this morning, with Sir Keir Starmer saying a 'standing army' of specialist police officers had been assembled to crack down on any further rioting.

It comes as a disturbing post emerged on Telegram channel Southport Wake Up which called for attacks against 39 immigration centres.

The post, seen by The Times, read: 'Wednesday night lads. They wont [sic] stop coming until you tell them... No more immigration. 8pm.'

Three men appeared in court this morning in connection with violent disorder that broke out yesterday in Bolton, where around 300 masked Muslim people shouting 'Allahu Akbar' – or 'God is greatest' – charged towards anti-immigration marchers, with rival groups throwing missiles at each another.

Hamza Mohammed, 23, a salesman from Bolton, was charged with possessing fireworks, while Daniel Robinson, 37, of admitted possessing a hammer.

Gareth Rigby was fined after he admitted a single charge of using threatening words or behaviour. The 43-year-old had 15 previous convictions for 23 offences including being drunk and disorderly last year.

Gareth Metcalfe, 44, Derek Drummond, 58, and John O'Malley, 43, who were all charged with violent disorder that broke out on Merseyside.

A 14-year-old boy from Toxteth pleaded guilty to violent disorder. The court heard the boy, who cannot be named because of his age, said 'I'm sorry, I wasn't firing them at you, though', when he was arrested by police after they gave chase. He had five fireworks and a lighter in his possession.

In Bristol, Adrian Croft, 45, of Flintshire, was charged with a Section 4 public order offence and possession of a Class A drug; while Damien Williams, 39, of Knowle, was charged with a Section 4 public order offence.

Both men have been bailed and will appear at Bristol Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

Six people are due to appear at South Tyneside Magistrates' Court today charged with violent disorder that took place in Sunderland.

Josh Kellett, 29, of Washington, admitted violent disorder and was remanded in custody for sentencing at crown court on September 2.

The court heard he was seen on footage throwing a stone towards police officers while part of a large group on Friday. He was wearing a balaclava but was identified by his 'distinctive tattoos,' it was said.

Andrew Smith, 41, also pleaded guilty to violent disorder and has been remanded in custody until September 2.

Shaun Doran, 48, of Sunderland, pleaded not guilty to the same offence. Clinton Morrison, 31, of Sunderland, was remanded in custody after being accused of violent disorder, but did not make a plea.

Tamsyn Kerr, 21, and Carl Holliday, 31, have been remanded in custody after being charged with violent disorder.

Sir Keir paid tribute to police officers tackling disorder on Britain's streets during this morning's Cobra meeting.

His official spokesman told reporters: 'The Prime Minister convened a meeting of Cobra this morning to update on the response for the disorder we've seen. This follows a series of meetings last week and over the weekend.

'Cobra was attended by the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister, Home Secretary, Justice Secretary, DSIT (Department for Science, Innovation and Technology) Secretary, Attorney General, Chief Secretary and leaders from police, prison service, NCA (National Crime Agency) and other senior officials.

'The PM paid tribute to the hard work of police officers over the past week and sent best wishes to those who have been injured protecting our streets.

'There have been hundreds of arrests and people are already being charged, and police will continue to update on the specifics in relation to progress or arrests and charging.

'The police are continuing to deploy additional resource around the country at strategic locations where necessary.'

The recent disorder echoes the 2011 riots, which began following the shooting by police of Mark Duggan in Tottenham before breaking out into riots across London and then other cities in England.

Looter Gordon Thompson received one of the strongest sentences in the aftermath of the riots, with the thug locked up for 11-and-a-half years for setting fire to House of Reeves, a family run furniture store in Croydon.

And footage from a local park appeared to show a group of white men and boys with faces covered surrounding and attacking a group, with violence erupting before they fled the scene.

Nearby, a Muslim leader at a mosque told community members who had turned out to protect their place of worship to 'show the world what Muslims are really like'.

Addressing far-right violence in the town, he said: 'They are doing all the wrong things. We don't want to be part of it.'

Other local Muslims were seen carrying tea and coffee to police officers on the front line of the town amid fierce violence from the far-right.

The absolute state of these people.....

EDL low lifes blames immigrants for crimes, while they themselves have heavy criminal record. Looks like a huge mental projection.

A bunch of loosers trying to blame others for their own failures. Like who forced you to drop out of school, binge alcohol every day and become childless? Its certainly not muslims.

That bitch is deluded, from memory she was from a normal family, who arranged a marriage with some normal dude.
This chick had all sorts of delusions, broke her marriage, blamed her culture and then grifted in the ex-muslim/white nationalists etc realm

You can see the crazy and mental trauma of these people a mile off

They are disliked intensely by the ethnic euopeans too. But too stupid to understand. The right wing only tolerate them as useful idiots.

True they cringe at such clowns. I noticed when the 'Persians' turned up to the patriot rally in London they were ignored by everyone, including Tommy. They were shouting at the top of their voices "we hate Islam", "we love Israel".
What a total sham of a people.

So what do you guys say?

If things get heated up (which i hope it dont) and indians run to us muslims for protection from racist mobs.

Should muslims help them?
Should we forgive ?

Help them???????????.........wff!!!!!!!!!!!!!....they are even more racist towards Muslims than the racist goreh are. Why should we help them?....would they help us?.....we need to protect and help our own people first and then those who can ally themselves with us.
