It seems all sides of the electorate are tired of billionaires setting an agenda that doesn’t align with the needs of most voters. This factor, and Trump’s incompetence in executing his agenda may play out in the midterms similarly to tonight.

You lost, Mamdani won!

Mamdani at 50.3% with 89.1% of the vote in so far.

249,000 votes outstanding

P.S. 1% of voters voted for 4 other candidates plus write-ins, including 0.3% for Mayor Adams.

Considering how corrupt Adams and Cuomo were, this is the end of a new form of Tammany hall. I hope the MTA gets its fair share of the money it’s owed from the state.

Btw, it will be interesting to see the demographic breakdown of this election. Mamdani may not have made as much inroads in places like Flushing (a sizable East Asian majority neighborhood) and Eastern Queens as he may have hoped.

You're clearly not understanding or being intentionally obtuse.

I will refrain from further engagement with you.

Have a nice day.
Which part do I not understand or intentionally obtuse?

ARPA is a COVID response, and along the same line as EVERY, I mean EVERY Western nation in the world, be it the UK, France, Australia, Germany, and so on, was doing the exact same thing, it gives people a stimulus to carry on with their business. If that is to blame, then the entire world is also doing the same thing. I don't really understand why you see more people joining the ACA as an issue, as how the program failed, when you are simply ignoring the fact that people are doing that BECAUSE they were laid off and/or furloughed during COVID and needed medical attention, and they weren't going to get it because they were laid off. Seems to me you're the one being intentionally obtuse on this.

As for whether or not it's the people's fault that they abandoned their private medical care, well, I can agree to disagree with you; it's up to you to think whether they are at fault. I simply believe if this is a public service, you can't blame people who were on it, I mean, do you blame people for getting into SNAP now that it wasn't fully funded? Social Benefit is not socialist. I used to live in China. I know what socialism looks like; it's a "benefit" you expect your government to take care of you, that's the basis of citizenship. Otherwise, why would you want to be a citizen of a country that doesn't care about your needs?

It’s a rebuke of Trump’s agenda to a certain extent. Now it comes down to if the Dems fumble this going into the midterms or listen to winners of tonight and learn the lessons their campaigns can teach them: listen to the voters.
The impact is not on the winning, the impact is the change of vote, besides NYC (Which basically both were Democratic candidates). The repudiation is the swing toward Trump in both NJ and Virginia was wiped out, and more people came out to vote, that's probably is the key thing to look at on this day.

This is the result for NJ Governor (Bear in mind, it was supposed to be a tight race)

Instead of a poll average of +3.3, Sherill won by +12.5, which is actually performed a lot better than the NJ governor race in 2021, where the GOP made up a lot of ground (Clattarelli ramped up from losing by -15 to -3), and now it has been dragged back to double digits. Even though Trump lost NJ in 2024 by 5 points, which is not a good look for Trump and the GOP brand, it has receded more than 8 years

Virginia is always looking at a Bloodbath for Governor, but still it went from projected 12 point favor the Dem and blown up to 15 points. Perhaps the race people need to look at is the VA DA race, which is won by Jones by 5 points

1762315914809.png

That is on top of Jones' text scandal (He sent a violent text to the NJ Republican house speaker) And the fact that Miyares was endorsed by Trump and basically ran on Trump's immigration policy means there is some repudiation with the current admin that even a massive (well, relatively massive) scandal won't break. The GOP needs to figure out how they can lend support to their candidate in the 2026 midterms without tainting it by Trump; otherwise, this type of bloodbath is just going to keep going on because I don't see how Trump would stop the policy regarding immigration and inflation.

Trump is very toxic in these two race (three I should say) because both governor and the DA both were endorsed by him and they endorse Trump policy, and the major different on the running point this year and last year is immigration, because economy are the same, inflation are the same, both party tackle the same problem, the only difference is the immigration policy.

“No more will New York be a city, where you can traffic in Islamophobia, and win an election.”
-Zohran’s victory speech from tonight

Thank you Brother Zohran for leading this fight against Islamophobia, head on and unapologetically.

P.S. Zohran ended his speech to this tune. Dhoom Machale if I’m correct.

Btw, Vaffanculo Cuomo for leaning into Islamophobic messaging in a desperate attempt to win voters, all throughout this campaign. He has dishonored himself but also his father who called out such dog whistle rhetoric back in 1986 against Italian Americans; with phrases like “made his bones” to call the elder Cuomo linked to the Mafia.

If you listen to Mario Cuomo’s words back in the 80s, you would think you are listening to Mamdani. The following video is so clear cut proof what voters respond to.

Lesson for democrats, this is the winning message. Don’t turn from it to cater to oligarchical billionaires.

He is ineligible due to his place of birth. He's actually not even South Asian. He is Ugandan by birth. Parents are Indian.

Mandani cannot ever become US President, but he will go for NY Governor, and become a kingmaker within the Democratic party in the next 15 to 20 years if things don't change and the US becomes more extreme than before.

On the other hand, Silwa is the reason why Cuomo is out, his existence split the vote between him and Cuomo, I don't know if this would make any different, but it will definitely make it a closer race.
