Kamala Harris' Popularity Reaches Record High

Jul 30, 2024
Kamala Harris is now more popular than Joe Biden or Donald Trump have been at any point in the 2024 election cycle, according to a new survey.

A Morning Consult poll of 11,538 registered voters between July 26 and 28 found 50 percent have a favorable view of Harris whilst 46 percent have an unfavorable view. According to the pollster, "Harris's 4-point net favorability is a higher rating than Biden or Trump have posted all cycle."

Harris quickly established herself as the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee after President Biden announced he was pulling out of the race and gave her his endorsement on July 21. The vice president has picked up the support of enough Democratic National Convention delegates to have herself confirmed as the party's 2024 nominee, along with endorsements from prominent leaders like former President Barack Obama.

The latest Morning Consult survey gives Harris a 50 percent approval rating, which is significantly higher than the one conducted a week before, when her favorability was 43 percent and 51 percent had an unfavorable perception of her.

The 12-point swing in net approval was primarily driven by a surge in Harris's popularity with Democrats from 80 percent approval to 89 percent and independents from 31 percent to 48 percent. When Morning Consult asked respondents who they would vote for in a presidential election, 47 percent said Harris against 46 percent for former President Trump. According to the pollster, the Harris figure was higher than the support Biden recorded when he was seen as the most likely Democratic nominee going back to late 2022.

Notably, the poll showed support for third party candidates, such as independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr., had shrunk to 4 percent of the vote, well below the 8 percent it was at in Morning Consult's final survey for Biden v. Trump before the incumbent president announced he was not seeking reelection. Read more

The Joe Biden-turned-Kamala Harris campaign raised $310 million in July — a monster sum of cash sparked by the vice president’s entry into the presidential race.

Harris’ haul more than doubled the $137 million brought in by former President Donald Trump, who survived an assassination attempt and headlined the Republican National Convention last month.
Harris’ campaign and other affiliated committees have $377 million in cash on hand, a $50 million advantage over Trump’s $327 war chest, according to figures released by both campaigns this week.

They’ve also raised over $1 billion during the campaign with four more months to go, the fastest to break the 10-figure mark in history, the campaign said on Friday. Read more

Harris makes history as first Black woman, Asian American presidential nominee

Fri, August 2, 2024

WASHINGTON - The party votes have been cast: Vice President Kamala Harris is officially the 2024 Democratic presidential nominee — making U.S. history as the first Black woman and first Asian American from a major party to win that designation.

Harris secured the Democratic nomination on Friday afternoon, receiving the majority of votes — at least 2,350 — from her party's delegates, just one day after voting opened. The Democratic National Committee held a livestream video hosted by Biden campaign aides and DNC chairman Jaime Harrison to mark the occasion.

"I am honored to be the presumptive Democratic nominee for President of the United States," Harris said moments after she passed the delegate threshold during a Democratic party-sponsored livestream phone call. "Your dedication cannot be overstated. Your dedication to our country. I know we all feel this way so strongly. We love our country, we believe in the promise of America, and that's what this campaign is about." Read more

Trump has spent the past year bragging that he is the only person who could bring Gershkovich home and that if he’s reelected Putin would agree to freeing the reporter as a personal favor to him. After Biden proved the claim wrong by securing the release of Gershkovich and others in a multi-nation prisoner exchange.

Trump is feeling deeply embarrassed and thinking, Et tu, Putin?

Power play by Putin, dementia Joe didn't secure anything.

I support Tim Walz as Kamala Harris’s VP pick. Walz's selection appears to serve a unifying purpose, appealing to Democrats of all stripes for many reasons. The pick has received enthusiastic backing from Democrats across the political spectrum, including from Sen. Joe Manchin (Moderate) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (Progressive).

In the context of the upcoming presidential election, the selection of a vice-presidential candidate is crucial for bolstering electoral prospects in key battleground states. His proven track record in governance and deep understanding of Midwestern politics can significantly enhance her appeal in critical states such as Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and North Carolina.

Kamala Harris and Tim Walz first rally in Pennsylvania. Wow, the enthusiasm.
