F-16s have been useless fr Pakistan due to American resistance on using them against India. It's been Chinese hardware that's proven vital for Pakistani defense.

They are not useless. The IAF is unable to challenge the PAF due to platforms such as F-16 and J-10C. The IAF is expected to revisit its strategy and equip Rafale with METEOR missiles but they still cannot rule out losses in war.

Source code is needed to equip an imported aircraft with local munitions but the PAF have developed JF-17 for this purpose. This is not a requirement for F-16. The US develops a large variety of munitions for F-16. It is up to the PAF to choose and negotiate in this regard when the opportunity presents itself.

A retired Pakistani senior Air Force official, who is credible, recently said that American hardware is good for upgrades and Pakistan is trying to upgrade some of its existing fleet of F-16 to make them at par with India's Rafale. The official is hopeful that's going to happen after General Munir's visit to Washington and per him it will be a huge gain for PAF. India is already lagging behind Pakistan in Air Force; India is lot bigger country with hostile borders with China and Pakistan and both of them are powerful militaries.
As for using F-16 against India, in a pinch, they WILL be used! Neither the Americans or the Indians have any illusions about that.

I remember the days on PDG legacy how Indians used to argue how Pakistan's days are numbered.

Yes, Trump II has turned out to be almost totally opposite of what was expected by the Indians. There was already some cooling down under Biden but what's happening now is almost hard to believe. The Left wing of India is using Trump to bash Modi, which is expected because that's what politicians do. But even the Right wing of India is frustrated with Trump; there is even a recent blog where they are wishing for India to just lay low until the US Midterm Elections in Nov. 2026 where Trump is likely become a 'lame duck' President. But I don't think that would matter because a US President can do a lot of things on foreign affairs even being a Lame Duck.

Quite simply speaking, India doesn't have a reliable, powerful ally like Pakistan has in China. Indians are vulnerable in UNSC Resolutions unless India dishes out goodies to the P-5 and India is forced to buy expensive hardware from Western countries while the supplies from Russia is very problematic.
Every major power knows India's vulnerabilities these days and they must know that Pakistan had twice humiliated India in military encounters. The world doesn't respect a loser!
