Turkey has no choice but to make a deal with Assad. Eventually we will make a deal with Assad and send some of the Syrians back to Syria. The Turkish-backed Syrian opposition in Syria are very uncomfortable with our meeting with Assad. We have to find a solution that includes them.

The most uncomfortable country is undoubtedly Iran. If we make a deal with Assad, Iran has to get out of Syria.

The protests will be completely over in a few weeks at most. Similar protests have happened before.

Iranians are only there with the Russians because Syrian government requested their help to tackle the rebels. Once Syria is united and safe again, the Russian and Iranian presence will be downgraded. I do fear Syria getting bombed by Israel though.

Syria should allow Iran and Russia to keep a few bases, get rid of their presence from other places, only SDF should be the force, make peace deals with Turkey and keep the Kurdish rebels in check via SDF replacing all the security forces.

Syria was the only Arab state still at war with Israel, they helped Hizbollah during 2006, Israel wanted to destroy Syria like Libya, Yemen, Iraq, Somalia etc so next time they could not help Lebanon. Half of the plan worked, today Syria is weak and divided but Arab nationalist government is still in power. What noone mentions is who funded and trained the rebels, they fought against an army.
