These clashes were triggered by violent riots in Turkey, where mobs burned and attacked Syrian-owned buildings and cars, after a Syrian refugee admitted to a crime against a Turkish child [I don't know the exact details].

As a result, Syrian militants in the Turkish occupied areas of Syria responded violently, attacking Turkish vehicles and taking down all Turkish flags, leading to armed clashes with Turkish troops in Syria.

Turkish forces have killed at least 5 Syrian militants and injured many more.

Happened right after Fidan's scheduled meeting with Syrian FM in Iraq for normalization talks.

Turkey and Syria must proceed and reach a benefiting agreement without giving a crap about extremist groups.

Turkey will never make peace with criminal genocide perpetrator Assad, at least not with AKP in power. Turkiye are not fools, they know the moment they withdraw from Northern Syria millions of syrians in idlib will move to Turkiye.

Turkey's Erdogan does not rule out meeting Syria's Assad to restore ties

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday he did not rule out a possible meeting with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to help restore bilateral relations between the neighbours.

Turkey severed ties with Syria after the 2011 Syrian civil war and supported rebels looking to oust Assad.

It has carried out several cross-border military operations against militants it says threaten its national security and formed a "safe zone" in northern Syria where Turkish troops are now stationed.

However, amid a regional charm offensive aimed predominantly at normalising ties with Persian Gulf countries, Turkey has also said it may restore ties with Damascus if there is progress on the fight against terrorism, on the safe and voluntary return of millions of refugees hosted by Turkey, and on the political process.

Asked by reporters about Assad's reported comments that his government was open to normalisation initiatives as long as they respected Syria's sovereignty and contributed to counter-terrorism, Erdogan said Ankara and Damascus could act to restore ties.

"There is no reason for it not to happen," Erdogan said, and added Turkey had no intention of interfering in Syria's internal affairs.

"Just as we kept our ties very lively in the past - we even held talks between our families with Mr Assad - it is certainly not possible (to say) this will not happen again in the future, it can happen," he said after Friday prayers.

These protests might be regime instigated, anyone with any sense in Northern Syria understands that Turkey is the only reason that Assad hasn't come and done what he did in Homs or Damascus.

Exactly one of the primary reasons for the intervention itself is that the buffer prevents Assad from trying to do his ethnic cleansing and trying to Desunnify Syria by expelling people out and them ending up in Turkey, He doesn't want to let them go back, the only way for them to go back is via a buffer zone where they can stay until a peace agreement can be achieved.. not to mention that he plays a double game with the PKK. The only way to get rid of the PKK is for Turkey to do it itself, you want a job done right, you gotto do it yourself, otherwise he will always keep them around as a potential axiom to use against Turkey.

Russia is currently completely bogged down in Ukraine, i don't think they will even send a single plane to help assad in Idlib.

Hezbollah and iran millitias will soon be busy in the south and Lebanon against america and israel.

So Turkiye withdrawing from northwestern syria will actually be bad news for assad. The rebels will resume the war with tacit support of america.
